The Analog Grownup
I write as true to myself as possible with warts and all ;). I want to be likeable and I use my likes as a guide. If I get a lot of likes then I guess I'm on the right path. But I don't intentionally write to get likes.
savagegrace26
Do you post with a strategy to generate "likes" for everything you post? I don't. Do you? No. I do the opposite. You should consider adding a "dislike" button. Edited October 31, 2014 by savagegrace26
Blue J
I find myself feeling extremely self-conscious about 'liking' any posts at all in this thread. Anyone else feel that way? It goes to the heart of the whole philosophy of the 'like' function on this forum, doesn't it? Or are we just woefully overthinking some random banality? (I have an answer to that last question).
Mr. Not
This whole time I've been trying to figure out a post which would get me a lot of likes... I can't think of anything terribly original, but I'll be even less original than that by making this meta post. (or is it now a meta meta post?)

When your "like-dislike" rating gets too low you'd get a suspension. And if it doesn't improve you'd get more suspensions and warnings until you finally get banned. It will teach people how to become better forum people.

Just make sure to disable that in the political forum oh - and there'd have to be a limit of maybe 3 dislikes per day, otherwise the feature would be abused by those with vendettas.

The Like system is pretty well established now. The way I see it, if someone makes a stupid post, very few will Like it. That works almost as well as a negative rep point.
1-0-0-1-0-0-1
I did a little adjusting to the Like system. I took away the ability to Like your own post. That was cheesy. And I adjusted the reputation levels. It used to be: 0 - Neutral10 - Good20 - Excellent 20 was too low for Excellent. So now we have: Neutral - 0Good - 25Very Good - 50Respectable - 100Excellent - 500Stellar - 1000
