treeduck
I broke my big toe about 10 years ago and I kept re-breaking it with inexplicable trips, I never trip up normally. Four times in all that happened. Hurt like hell, I had to just lie down for an hour. Maybe the universe was teaching me a lesson? Anyway as a result it took over 18 months to heal up to the point that shooting pain like a bolt of electricity (when I made the wrong move) was a thing of the past. And it took about 5 years in all till it felt entirely healed and solidified. Ie If I crash the toe into the edge of a door now it only hurts for 2-5 minutes like my other toe would and not 45-60. The Analog Grownup
I once fell going up the stairs and my left big toe had all the colors of the rainbow from the tip down to the base. It hurt like hell, but didn't do anything about and it went away by itself. Don't think I broke it but it was close, perhaps a fracture.

The pain is not comparable to a pansy stubbed toe. It still bothers me. I see I have a long road ahead of me, argh.

It's only now that it's all healed that I can see the bump and the divot in the flesh next to it where the bone is out of line.
Janie
Someone recently stubbed their toe so I looked up how to treat it here The line that stuck out to me was "there are few things that hurt worse than a stubbed toe." I'm skeptical. Debate. (P.S. might go without saying, but only physical injuries. none of that emotional scarring shit. )I've broken a toe or two. It hurts, yes. But, speaking as someone who has had natural childbirth, there are things that hurt worse. I'll say though that what sucks about stubbing a toe is that once it's broken, it seems like they re-break easily. IDK, people have different pain thresholds. Breaking a toe hurts for a few minutes and then you see it all bent in a way it shouldn't be bent but I don't think it hurts that bad. A few months back, I was playing soccer with my oldest in the backyard and landed completely sideways on my ankle. Hurt like a mother and I laid there for about a half hour in pain. I was sure something was broken. It wasn't but I found it curious that landing in a messed up way on my ankle hurt WAY worse than breaking a toe. Ancient Ways
Broke my foot once. It was a toe but part of the bone up in the foot. It hurt for a couple months before I finally went to doctor and they gave me a special non-bendable show to wear so it would heal. To this day if I bend it the wrong way it feels like it is broke again. It's not as bad as a kick to the balls or dry socket after wisdom tooth extraction though. Alsgalpal
The pain from my accident far surpasses natural childbirth (did it twice), stepping on a Leggo, a toy soldier, and having a horse step on my toe and peel the nail off...
Nate2112
My mother tried to lift a water barrel at my house and it came crashing down on her toe, crushing all the bones in her toe. P.S. Steevo
The pain from my accident far surpasses natural childbirth (did it twice), stepping on a Leggo, a toy soldier, and having a horse step on my toe and peel the nail off... Yee Gods!!! Reminds me of my tramping accident where I came down a bank and twisted my foot so I naturally tried to steady myself with the other foot and that one got crunched up, killing my big toenail effectively, black as the ace of spades. I left it on for ages but eventually the new nail pushed it off. That was up there on the pain-o-meter. Needless to say socks are doubled-up and boots are extra tight from now on!! As we're dealing with just toes I'll leave it there but suffice to say breaking an arm is the most pain I've ever had to endure. I don't think you've lived until a bone has been broken, that's real pain.

Hi Mr.IsNot!! How are you? Haven't talked to you in forever! Add me on facebook if you'd like to keep up more often mate! and yeah, nothing new really, just watching gachimuchi and playing league of legends... Er- getting off some meds of mine since I found the side effects give me constant unavoidable drowsiness... Which is worse than whatever it was they were supposed to be fixing in my behavior. With this drowsiness I can hardly work anymore, just sleep constantly... And that's no good. Thread:From past experiences, treating a injured toe nail is more painful than the act of injuring it to begin with - but is necessary for it's healing of course. Most of you are talking about broken toes which is of course fine, but none of the phalangeal joints were injured. Anyways, I just found the thought of a stubbed toe being one of the most painful injuries interesting. I've sprained my wrist in the past, was playing tennis against myself and tripped over the net while jumping over it. Can't recall what it felt like exactly, it wasn't as painful as I feared breaking / straining something would be though, I do know that.
