I drive a 1992 Nissan Pickup, the only vehicle that I have ever purchased ($13,0000 Cdn new). It has so far lasted 375,000 km with minimal maintenance (americans can convert that to miles yourself, but I think you divide by two point something, or something biggrin.gif ).

Sorry to say it, but the Japanese vehicles are the way to go if you want reliablitiy eh! This truck has ruled, and I'm gonna run this sucka into the grond!

I have to agree with that. A friend of mine has an old Toyota truck that never ceases to amaze me. One time he drove something crazy like from COlorado to California and when he got back he mentioned that his oil light had been on....turns out there was NO oil in the engine! ohmy.gif

My commute car is a 2000 FORD   Focus.

My Baby, it's my fun ride (Ford F250, V10, 8' bed, 4" lift, cat back exhaust, cold air induction, 320HP, the only bad part is the 8' clearance needed. biggrin.gif )
Red starman sticker in the middle of the back window.

I've been in that truck..

We were on the freeway and we past a toyota sienna, and I was able to look right into it... through the Sun Roof! laugh.gif

1001 and GG can verfify.

Absolutely! DM's truck is badass! I was hoping DM would maybe run over one of those little Toyotas. We certainly had the clearence, and it woulda been fun!

BTW, I drive a 1990 Nissan Maxima (no poll choice for Nissan?) with 190,000 miles, and it still runs like a top.

Are you ready for this?

1999 Daewoo Leganza SE

Now, I know what you're thinking (what a POS). But, with a Daewoo, there's more than meets the eye to them. After the Asian financial collapse of 2000, the company finally agreed to be bought by General Motors in 2002. (The part of them that they didn't already own.) This was after heavy bidding by DaimlerChrysler, Ford, Toyota and several other companies. The reasons for Daewoo's demise:

1. Corrupt CEO pulling an Enron type of crime and felling the country. The South Korean authorities are still looking for him.

2. The horrible Asian economy at the time.

3. Since the early 70's, Daewoo has been sort of a "captive import" company to General Motors, due to a joint venture that was started in 1973. You could have driven a Daewoo and not even known it! Daewoo has made cars for several other companies, too! here are some examples:

1989-1993 Pontiac Lemans and GSE, and Opel Kadett = Daewoo Nexia and Daewoo Racer

2004-present Suzuki Verona = Daewoo Magnus (formerly Leganza)

2004-present Suzuki Forenza = Daewoo Nubira

2004- present Suzuki Reno (wagon) = Daewoo Nubira (wagon)

2004-present Chvrolet Aveo = Daewoo Kalos

There are others, but here's a general list of companies that Daewoo has built cars for:

Buick, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Opel, Vauxhall, Holden(Australian GM), FSO, SEAT, ZAZ...

In a typical Daewoo, there are more GM components than anything GM makes in the United States.

In my Leganza, here's a rundown:

Engine: Holden (GM Australia) an an interpretation of a Mazda design tha twas licensed to Holden), Transmission: Toyota Electric: GM Chassis: GM, tuned by Lotus (another GM division).

Daewoo is now known as GMDAT (General Motors/Daewoo Automotive Technology) and is owned jointly by Holden (58%), Suzuki (30%), and SIAC (General Motors China) (12%). Sadly, the only place that Daewoos are called Daewoos is South Korea!

Anyways, back to my car...I have had one problem with this car, and that is that the oil pump went bad and lunched the engine. It wasn't the car's fault, I bouth it used (as a repo) and apparently, the previous owner never changed the oil. I drive 108mi/day round trip to and from work, and it never has given me any trouble in the 40,000 miles I have put on it(after the oil pump) so far. However, due to being hit by a truck, it now looks pretty ugly. I'll post a picture when I get one.

yeah so my car has been in the body shop/paint shop for THREE WEEKS!

i finally saw it today and they matched the paint job to the original paint job: METALLIC DARK GREEN/JADE GREEN. it's more jade than dark.

it is a head-turner but i'm not sure if it works, exactly. i mean midnight blue, beige, dark green look great but man this car is pimped out now. i think i prefer it to be purple if you know what i mean.

these guys took out ALL the rust and it won't be coming back for a long, long time. this car is crazy now. it's frickin' crazy green, but just dark enough to be permissable. it may need the vinyl top again but that will be next year if i do that.

i expect this car to be stolen in the next 365 days. N E 1 know N E THING about kill-swiches?

will post pics next week....
