AFarewellToHemispheres
Didn't see much about comics here so I thought, what the heck. What are you guys reading in the way of comics and graphic novels? I just finished the Doctor Who/Stat Trek: The Next Generation Crossover Assimilation2 and after I finish Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep I'll bee moving on to the Marvel Event story line Fear Itself which I've had sitting on my shelf for about a year. Alan Moore is a genius and I do not use the term lightly. The amazing thing about V For Vendetta is that it came out after Watchmen and is still considered a high water mark among Moore's work. The movie adaption was way better too.

I have the Black Dossier and all the volumes of Century on my shelf. I really liked the movie of V or Vendetta, Hugo Weaving probably my favourite actor ever. JohnnyBlaze
I got V for Vendetta yesterday and something called Batman: The Black Mirror which has Dick Grayson taking over the role as Batman. I think of it in much the same way as when Bucky was given the title of Captain America

Always liked the work of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. These three books are just top notch.

I'm more of a Marvel guy but I'll read anything if it seems interesting. [batman: Year One was quite good too]. Black Mirror does a good job going to the Batman story roots of detective/mystery. I won't give anything away but I really enjoyed the villain in this. And they did a really good job of putting Grayson in the situation of being Gotham's protector. Additionally, the artwork is spot-on....i.e. Grayson is athletic but he isn't huge and broad-shouldered like Bruce. You can see that when he's put in the costume. It's worth purchasing

The Dark Knight Strikes Again is alright, nothing to special. Very colourful.
JohnnyBlaze
I totally agree about the Nolan Bat flicks missing out on the detective side of Bruce. Funnily, I was going to mention that in my last post but forgot while I was typing because I was in comic thinking mode. Those films were still really enjoyable though...the first two anyway

Yeah, it's a collection of the three Halloween one-shots that Loeb and Sale did together. The Christmas Carol one (Ghosts) is silly as shit, but I like the first two stories. Yeah, it's a collection of the three Halloween one-shots that Loeb and Sale did together. The Christmas Carol one (Ghosts) is silly as shit, but I like the first two stories. The Long Halloween was the first Batman and first graphic novel I bought EVER. It's awesome. Dark Victory is just as good, some of the images in that actually scare me slightly when you're reading it in bed just before turning the light out and going to sleep. Especially the Sofia Gigante stuff. Sale's realyy good at adding that creepy edge to it. Must confess, I haven't actually raed Haunted Knight yet. I have it and it's on my too read list. After I get through Brave New World nad the League series I'll probably start on that. Might be a holiday read. Loeb's got to be up there with Miller and Moore for me. Love his stuff. I actually need to get a new copy of Hush. i loved that book but it fell apart after a few months. Might try to find either a hardback copy or a paperback one just for show. Their Marvel stuff together is also on my "too get" list. I have Spiderman Blue but I reallyw ant to get Hulk Grey and Daredevil Yellow, the latter especially as I really love the Dardevil character and only have part of Miller's run.

Stormtron
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5a/KorvacSaga.jpg :ebert: The first TPB I ever got. That exact version too. I must've read it 10 times when I was in the third grade. That and a Tales from the Crypt book. I originally got issues 176-177 (the last 2 issues of the Korvac saga) back in '77 or '78 when I was 5 or 6. I still remember my big bro reading it to me and doing all the sound effects as Korvac vaporized nearly every Avenger and Guardian of the Galaxy. It made an impact and was a big part of why I got more and more into reading. It's still my sentimental favorite of all comics.
H. P. L.
Currently reading this one. It has "masterpiece" written on every page, the art is nothing short of stunning. As for the story, let's see how it plays off. http://0.tqn.com/d/manga/1/0/o/y/0/-/PanoramaIsland_500.jpg I've been dying to find some decent manga lately. I love all sorts of that Shojo soapy stuff, but since lately there's nothing that picks my interest, I went for the "adult" choice. Who says you can't keep your foot in two shoes?
