Its really getting crazy now! Winds picking up big time. I'm not sure how much longer I will have this luxury. I fear it won't be too much longer. The good news(in Connecticut anyway) is the rain amounts are not as bad as once thought. The bad news is the wind may be worse than expected. I'll keep posting throughout the day if possible. If I'm not. you will know why.

Anyone in NY, NJ, CT, PA can feel it now. I don't like this at all and I'm definitely going to freak when it gets dark out because I can't see what's going on. Maybe I won't want to.

I like this new avatar. It's looks just how I feel: burnt, nervous and kind of confused. I may put the old one back. we'll see.

Gaaa!

In SW Pennsylvania and things are getting real here. Been raining all day...most of the day, pretty heavily. The winds started gusting around supper time. We had thunder and lightning for a short time, too. Just hoping for the power to remain on and damage to be minimal.

Those who pray, please pray for all in the path. Those who send positive thoughts and vibes, send them along as well. It's gonna be a rough night.

Down here in South-central PA, we've had the power go out 4-5 times. It's on currently, obviously, but the winds have been high since around 11:00 this morning. Thery're still going now.

I'm praying the most for those right on the coast right now, especially NYC. Most of Manhattan is without power, the Hudson is flooding, a power substation exploded, and a crane is dangling from a 90 story building, and a building facade coming down. Some serious stuff goin' down.

Edit: that didn't like the pics apparently. I'll get em later

We seemed to fare well here in MA. Lots of leaves down but we were fortunate and didn't lose power or suffer any real damage. I hope that folks farther down the coast are okay and everyone made it through safely.

I could be wrong but I'm sure heard that the UK's going to get the tail-end of Sandy.

I was curious about that. It wil be here a few more days as it heads north over Ottawa (it looks like) and then east.

Do you usually see the remnants of our hurricanes? What about all of the ones that miss us and just head out into the Atlantic, do you see rain and wind from those?

Anything more than usual, or just another Saturday?

The news tonight was quite sobering. NYC really took it on the chin - 80+ houses burned to the ground in Rockaway. Heartbreaking. And my thoughts and prayers also go out to those in all the states effected.

What tends to happen is that after a storm has wreaked havoc over one country, it seems to just turn and we get it, but much less in strength.

Remarkably, my neighborhood didn't flood (there's a river and marsh right near my house) and we didn't lose power. Other than the 1 tree that fell on my street, you'd never know that a hurricane hit.

I'm thankful that my family's alright. There were 2 houses in another town that caught on fire during the storm and the firefighters couldn't get to them because they were surrounded completely by water. They had to just let them burn without knowing whether or not anyone was inside. I haven't heard anything else about it so hopefully that means they obeyed the mandatory evacuation and got out before the storm struck.

NY and NJ were walloped by this storm.

I am also worried a bit for our Fourmers who live in these areas.

I grew up on Staten Island, and seeing what happened to it on TV is just gut wrenching. Queen of Megadon lives out there. I hope she and her family are doing okay despite the circumstances. My step brother and sisters and families live in Tottenville.

There are many NJ Fourmers who haven't checked in. I hope for the best for everyone.

Like Gov. Christie, as a child I went to the places on the Shore - Belmar, Seaside Heights. I got married on the beach on Avon-by-the-Sea and to watch it all vanish - I'm speechless.

My cousins and godparents live in Brick Twp. which is Ocean County, NJ I haven't heard from any of them.

My inlaws are on Long Island and we haven't heard from any of them.

I wish and hope for the best.

The UK version of Sandy will be a bucket of water over your car... *mad ape leaping in the air smiley*

I live on Staten Island literally across the street from Zone A. I drove around the island this morning and I could not believe what I was seeing. We are all rag dolls when it comes to Mother Nature. Be thankful for what you have.
