Del_Duio
QUOTE (micgtr71 @ Oct 23 2012, 02:58 PM) I put it at no. 2. This was my first exposure to Rush (New World Man) and therefore is somewhat special. I also think that this was the album where they developed the best balance between bass, gtr, and keys. It also contains two of my favorite Rush songs ever. Certainly not volume-wise! The guitar's drowned out of half the album. I'd give Signals a 5, very very good but not on par with Kings, Hemispheres or PeW to me.

Outside of Subdivisions and maybe The Analog Kid, they missed the mark. Most of the rest of the album has "ok" stuff, but certainly nothing I'd call a classic or in the same ballpark as their previous stuff. This is the album that got Terry Brown fired and you can hear it in the recording. It just didn't work I always got the impression that he was fired because he didn't like Signals or the direction the band was going. I remember a quote from somewhere that he begged them not to do Digital Man. No, I think it had ,ore to do with arguments during the recording process about the direction, and I don't think Rush was happy with the way it came out in the end. Recording and mixing with implementing keys wasn't his bag anyway If that's the case, they probably had the guy who mixed Vapor Trails killed. I think that was part of the problem with that album. They were a little too confident about their abilities as producers. Geddy and A.L had both come off their own solo albums so I think they used that experience to try to do it themselves...didn't work out so well
LeaveMyThingAlone
I will say this: Chemistry has one of the coolest Rush opening minutes ever. But then those lyrics kick in and . New World Kid
Let's see... Today? The order is... 1) Vapor Trails 2) Counterparts 3) Grace Under Pressure 4) Presto 5) Moving Pictures 6) Permanent Waves 7) Snakes and Arrows 8) Clockwork Angels 9) A Farewell to Kings 10) Signals 11) Power Windows 12) Hold Your Fire 13) Test for Echo 14) 2112 15) Hemispheres 16) Roll the Bones 17) Fly by Night 18) Caress of Steel 19) Rush Looks like 10th. All evidence to the contrary. This looks more like my bottom five list. You must like taking things out of Context! Seem like you just ignored everything that was above it. Hemispheres Moving Pictures Permanent Waves Clockwork Angels A Farwell to Kings Signals Power Windows Grace Under Pressure Counterparts Hold Your Fire I guess you just quote on what ever you need to prove your point. What do you mean? Your 6-10 seems more like my 15-19 than my 6-10. It is indeed, bad company. If I quoted the first five you listed, I couldn't make that point. I don't understand what you're getting at.

GeddyLeeRoth
I think CA has bumped Signals and FBN down a notch... 1. Moving Pictures 2. Hemispheres 3. 2112 4. Permanent Waves 5. A Farewell To Kings 6. Grace Under Pressure 7. Power Windows 8. Clockwork Angels 9. Fly By Night 10. Signals
pxr5
I've not really ranked all their albums before, but in just doing so (and it was a quick hit), I came up with Signals at number 13. When it was released it was album that first started to turn me off Rush - exemplified by GUP, PoW and HYF. If it hadn't been for the wonderful Losing It, it may have even been a place or 2 lower
