jjgittes
I don't think they are playing at the Casino proper. I believe they are playing at what used to be known as the San Diego Sports Arena and now just carries the casino name. The arena is in San Diego proper whereas the casino is sort of in the boonies, about 30 minutes away. Maybe someone from that area can confirm?? Jomboni
What about all those people complaining that nobody is going to buy tickets thanks to the setlist? Guess San Diego never got the memo!

bigalfan
Since I know the boys have nothing better to do than read TRF posts during their downtime, you (Dirk, Lerxst, Pratt) are more than welcome to add a November 27th date in OKC. You're coming this way anyway. Only 3 hours to Dallas - you can do a back-to-back! Might as well stop here and make a little more $$ as this leg of the tour winds down! jjgittes
No knock on San Diego but I believe San Diego may been added due to the fact the boys didn't sell out two nights in Los Angeles. For Time Machine, they played two dates at the Gibson Ampitheater on each leg of the tour. I perceive they were keeping that Wednesday, 11/21, open for a second night at Gibson, after the 11/19 date. So in spite of the glass being half full for San Diego fans(ironically, at each of the two Time Machine shows I was at in Los Angeles, I sat next to people who had come up from the San Diego area), I wonder if the "memo" was sent out to San Diego because L.A. had the glass half empty when it came to ticket sales(???) The show is at the Valley View Casino Center (Sports Arena Blvd in San Diego), not at the VV Casino and Hotel. The show is already listed on the Valley View Casino Center web site, www.valleyviewcasinocenter.com.
Snaked
Is that the same San Diego Sports Arena that has been around forever? I was there on the HYF tour and thought it looked old back then.

LeaveMyThingAlone
Ok, the Sports Arena makes more sense. That casino is in the boonies and parking would have been a nightmare Wow, I haven't been to the San Diego Sports Arena in years. They never do shows there anymore. It's so old

HalfwayToGone
QUOTE (jjgittes @ Sep 10 2012, 03:37 PM) No knock on San Diego but I believe San Diego may been added due to the fact the boys didn't sell out two nights in Los Angeles. Actually, that makes no sense. When ticket sales slump, shows get cut, not added. It's very expensive to put on a show, so the more shows you add, the more expensive the tour. Sometimes the booking process gets stalled because multiple people are bidding for the same venue on the same date, and the final decision about who gets the venue isn't made until after all the other shows are booked. And it doesn't have to be two bands duking it out--it could be a conflict with a sports schedule, or some other use of the arena. Whatever it is, it's good for the SD fans. toscanobarga
Anaheim is only selling upper levels now. Gibson is about 80% sold I'm going to both. Last time I saw a SD show it was only about half full, this could be a struggle.
WIDE-ANGLE WATCHER
QUOTE (toscanobarga @ Sep 29 2012, 10:48 AM)Anaheim is only selling upper levels now. Gibson is about 80% sold I'm going to both. Last time I saw a SD show it was only about half full, this could be a struggle. Just a few friendly stat corrections.... The Gibson Amphitheater seats less than 7000, with approximately only 600 tickets left....which is over 90% capacity at this point and a great chance to sell out. The last time RUSH played the San Diego Sports Arena was in 1996 for the Test For Echo Tour....and I can personally attest to the fact that the venue was well over half full, probably close to 80% + I do agree with you that this time the San Diego sales could be a struggle and very low, due to the late addition to the tour and that a lot of San Diegans, including myself, were forced, initially, to purchased tickets to the LA shows. I know that there is a large and loyal fan base in San Diego, having attended RUSH concerts since 1978....yet I am concerned that under these 'late addition' conditions that if there is not , say 50%+ ticket sales...that maybe the San Diego show could be cancelled. I have faith in the fan base here in SD...so...go buy a ticket!!!
go2wrk@95974
SD sports arena opened in 1967. It's obviously VERY OLD. The acoustic's are not the best..actually very bad. I've seen RUSH play there a few times, and they always put on a really great show, considering the place is ancient. I personally think it's time to tare it down, and build a new complex. I'm not too sure if I'm goin' to that gig..probably not.
toscanobarga
Sports Arena is a horrible place for a show. Hot, cramped, not enough bathrooms, walkways in concessions/bathroom areas too narrow. I was referring to the Chula Vista show in 2007 being about half full. The lawn is more than half the capacity and there was no one on the lawn and the seats were maybe 2/3 full, so less than half. Just a friendly stat correction, Gibson holds just over 6,000 so 90% sold is about right.
