Different Stages! Bringing back the Marshalls put the guts back in his sound.

 

I'm a G&L through Rivera amps guy, but Alex sounds at his best with a LP and tube distortion ala Marshall or H&K. It's not as clearly defined of a sound like the Signature and GK days, but it has BALLS, and in the end Rush is a HARD ROCK group that needs hard rockin' tones. Just listen to The Analog Kid on DS......you can feel that tone.
