Union 5-3992
I'll be starting school at UB in September and I found out that he'll be performing less than a mile away from my dorm. Is he worth seeing live? I can certainly afford it and am a walking distance away so it is very tempting.

treeduck
He's a great guitar player and performer... I've seen him live and I've met the guy too...nice guy... Here's a bad pic of me and Steve, I've got a few records for him to sign, and I wasn't quite ready for this shot... It actually looks like I'm doing some strange air guitar solo... http://i.imgur.com/oV7ek.jpg

Rod in Toronto
Vai is definitely worth seeing live. His stage presence is quite cool, and he learned his chops by touring with David Lee Roth (minus the gay moves ). I saw him in 2001 in Rio on the Ultrazone Tour, and wish I could see him live more often...

I saw him once. Great band. Ridiculous chops. But i was quite bored halfway through the show. You really have to be into the whole Shred thing to enjoy a full show IMO. cfmoran13
I'd go for it. I've seen him a few times at G3 over the years. He usually has a pretty good backing band, too. Puts on a pretty good show.
