AddictedRushian Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I paid for 2 tickets to see Rush this October. To hear they're going to bring a mini orchestra is incredible! I think this is a superb idea! I know there is a poll on where they should be placed during the concerts but I am still worried about them playing too much. I know Rush will do a great job in making sure they don't get overshadowed by the strings but I'm still a little iffy about bringing other musicians to play with them on their tour... I kind of feel like I just want to see Ged, Alex and Neil and those 3 only... PS. This is my first post in this forum!
EmotionDetector Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Welcome to the Forum! Oh, and yes...I am concerned about it taking over. I would think they know their audience enough to know that most probably don't want a heavy use of it...especially on their classics. I guess we'll have to see what happens!
rocketom Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 It would surprise me if they played for more than 8 songs.
FOH Lights Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 You guys should relax. Rush knows what their fans like (and don't like) and this show will be spectacular. Don't kill your pre-concert buzz over a non-issue.

I have to think the strings will be used where appropriate, like during the CA songs that use them, and the older songs that use them. Marathon Manhattan Project Losing It That's all I can think of right now.

Don't worry, the concert will rock!

New Digital Man Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I'm not worried about the strings 'cause i'm not f*****g going! If i wanted strings i'd go to the ballet or listen to f*****g Coldplay or ELO!
Rushchick10 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I'm not a big fan of them taking a string section along with them, but it's not going to keep me from going to as many shows as I can.
Just an Escape Artist Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I just don't see Rush bringing a string orchestra of any kind. They will use programing and keys like they always do. If I am wrong I will be as surpised as the rest of you. I just see anyone other than Rush palying at a Rush show.

ReflectedLight Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 since they made up their mind with the orchestra, at least fill the orchestra with good looking women, preferably blondes in short skirts.

Xanadu La Villa Strangiato Lock & Key Jacob's Ladder Natural Science These would ALSO sound amazing with an orchestra Edited June 25, 2012 by ALifeson85
troutman Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 First of all, Welcome to the forum. Second, I think it's awesome that they are adding a new dimension on this tour. I have complete faith the strings will not be over done.

DBJetsman Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I didn't pay for tickets to see some orchestra, I paid to see god damn RUSH!!!
ReflectedLight Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 i say keep the orchestra backstage and channel the sound out to the stage when needed and maybe you can put the orchestra on the video screen.

losingit2k Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Welcome to the Forum, I too was a bit concerned that they would add string to everything. However, its RUSH they know what they are doing as evident by Clockwork Angels use of Strings. It will be fine as long as they: Keep strings on songs which have strings already!

Indeed. Take a page from Yes, and crank it to eleven. Heheheh... Sorry.
