I believe Neil has also referred to himself as a left leaning libertarian. Those I know who identify themselves that way seem to be mostly people who just want to legalize drugs and prostitution. However, if you ask them about complex issues like taxes and gun control their ideas about freedom sometimes get a little murky.

But identifying as a bleeding heart libertarian could be a way to distance oneself from some of the more extreme and nonhumanitarian aspects of libertarianism. Sadly, some people in the party seem to have no empathy and are unapologetic while others are very naive and idealistic. It's hard to be a balanced person and a libertarian, I think.

Before this gets moved to SOCN...

A common misconception about libertarians and conservatives, is this notion that we don't care about the poor and sick etc. This myth (lie actually) is perpetuated by various people for political reasons.

The reality is we care a lot about those people. We just don;t think its the governments job to take care of them. It's our job as a society of charity, family and freinds.

That system has worked fine for centuries, now EVERYTHING is the governements job. 062802puke_prv.gif

Well, a libertarian is someone who has the morals of liberal (legalize marijuana, don't be a dick to the environment, etc) while also liking the laws of the conservatives (like gun control, less government control, etc). That's what I would have to say I am. Especially Neil.

And here I thought "Occupiers" had vanished into thin air (and hopefully back to work).

There are no jobs,

Whats an occupier to do? tongue.gif

Look at the want ads in the local papers, craigslist, careerbuilder...something more constructive than simply bitching and pissing on the sidewalk.

and smearing poo.

I didn't realize there were right wing nut jobs here. Do you really think a Canadian is going to give 2 sh!ts about some American underground movement? You probably think that Faithless is a ringing endorsement of faith. Give me a f***ing break! Y'all have a little too much time on your hands. Talk about drinking the Kool-Aid...

You do realize that Rush is a progressive band in the true meaning of the word? And that they are Canadian, which to Republicans are categorized as Socialists.

I don't know whether to laugh or be concerned.

All Canadians think alike? Wow, I never knew that. Thanks!

Please point out where I said that all Canadians think alike. Read what I wrote not what you want to think I am saying.

Rings are an important part of greatness but not the only component, or else you have to think that Trent Dilfer is better than Marino. Please don't tell me you believe that, or we'll have to refer to you as the Nickelback of posters.

No, but guys like Brady and Aikman are/were. Brady especially hasn't always had the weapons behind him, but could find ways to win the big games.

But yeah, seriously, never let your own political views get in the way of music, or anything really. If you look at a chair or a turkey sandwich and think IS THIS LIBERAL OR CONSERVATIVE, you probably have a problem...

And to the people saying I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WERE RIGHT-WING NUTJOBS HERE: What did you expect on a forum for a band that's mostly enjoyed by people older than 30? On a forum with lots of 50 year-olds, of course you're gonna get a lot of people who are against gay marriage, think the Bible is 100% literal fact, etc. That's their opinion, oh well.
