Watching the animated series, Avatar :the Last Airbender, with my kids this weekend, and the flying machines the "Fire Nation" had appear to be very steampunk in nature.

Any other references?

There's a great PC game from the late 90's (I think) Called Arcanum: Of Magik and Steamworks Obscura.

Kind of a cross between Diablo & The Baldur's Gate games but along with your magic you also can make mechanized bombs, flame throwers, etc.

EDIT: Here's the wiki article on it:

There was an animated Disney movie back in 2002 which got largely ignored, including by me, but it had a kind of "steampunk" visual style: Treasure Planet, a "futuristic" re-telling of Treasure Island -

The previous year, the Disney film Atlantis: The Lost Empire was an even better example of steampunk -

And one of the most notorious "steampunk" films was the anime film "Steamboy" -

The forthcoming BioShock game looks to be heavily steampunk influenced.

It is! I'm excited for that.

I also heard that movie from last year, I think it was called "Hugo", was very steampunk themed.

Has anyone ever played the "Myst" computer games that came out in the 90's and mid-200's? Really cool concepts and I get a steampunk type of vibe from the games

I don't think Atlantis: The Lost Empire counts as steampunk if it was set in the era in which the clothing/architecture/machinery styles were invented. . . just sayin' tongue.gif

I used to play that game back in the day. I still have recurring dreams I'm in that world.
