There has been many great Rush Trifectas throughout the years first:

(2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres) followed by:

(Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals) then:

(Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire) and Now:

(Snake and Arrows, Clockwork Angels & ......?)

Any thoughts?

While it may not be the most popular opinion here, I think the trifecta of Vapor Trails, Snakes, and Clockwork is really an incredible testament to this band and their evolution. 20th Century Rush has now been fully established in a big way.

Thoughts? Yes...

Your thread is on shaky ground from the start, because your premise is wrong. Grace Under Pressure was merely okay, and Snakes and Arrows was shiite. Goodbye to those two "trifectas." tongue.gif

I'm just razzing ya, guy. We have different opinions about which are great Rush albums is all. wink.gif

I prefer to imagine that we are at the beginning of a great Rush trifecta. That way there are two more great albums to look forward to. cool.gif

I would not consider S&A the beginning of an epic trifecta. I am enjoying Clockwork Angels a lot though...

I'd rather hope that Clockwork Angels is the beginning of its own trifecta. Wishful thinking, perhaps.

Yes this, 100%.

If anything this album is a start of one! smile.gif

Depends on who you ask.

Many here disliked S&A, and loved VT.

Others disliked VT, but loved S&A.

For me, yeah...I love S&A, and I'm loving CA...so yes, I certainly hope to see a third album coming up (and hopefully sooner than 5 years).

Let's hope they don't pull a Tool..

Snakes is average at best. That is my thought. CA sounds good as of listen number 2.

by the way, the ultimate Rush trifecta is...

Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures.

There is no debate.

Snakes was awesome. Time will time if CA is as well. Right now it is fairly pretty well with me but the test of time will yield the answer.

Of Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures, I agree, but I think the third part of the trifecta is AFTER those two (Signals) rather than BEFORE THEM (Hemispheres).

See what I did there? I debated. wink.gif

And I believe that we are at the end of a great trifecta (Vapor Trails, Snakes & Arrows and Clockwork Angels).

I don't think Rush will have anthing like CA again.

I agree with this part of your post. I think Clockwork Angels will be tough to beat.

BTW, Neil told Rolling Stone that he can't imagine doing this for another ten years... which would mean we have one, maybe two more Rush albums at best. If this were their Swan Song, I'd be perfectly fine with that; it'd be a good way to go out.

Clearly Signals - P/G - PoW is the best trifecta

Clockwork Angels could be the beginning of a trifecta if the band would just refocus their energies more towards song writing and studio. I can see why they tour so much as that is where the money is now but their time as a band is running shorter now. After this tour take your break and go right back into song writing mode. Got to stay on a roll with this creative energy going on right now. No more 5 years between records.(I hope)
