Don't think it will make Gold. Rush albums start super strong and drop off dramatically.

If the tour really rolls, they may pick up some decent sales throughout and make it, but it will be tough

Regardless, sales have been good in this day and age when it's so tough to sell records

I didn't say it did, I said if it's sold 205,000 in the U.S. in under 2 months of release why would it not sell 500K? doh.gif

It would have to sell 500K in the U.S. alone to be certified Gold by the RIAA. It's doubtful that will happen.

It's clear now that by "this much" he meant "as much as it has" and not "500,000".

Anyway, Rush albums sell a ton in the first week and then sales drop off dramatically. It is simply unrealistic that the band will sell another 300,000 copies in the US without something absolutely crazy hampening. This album is great, but it won't go gold in the US.

An impressive marketing push from Roadrunner could help. They'll have to get creative, though. The album is pretty long. Maybe Roadrunner could market it like:

"Most minutes per dollar of any other 2012 rock album!" or

"Do you demand more notes per album for your music purchases? Well, have we got the record for you!"

After I posted this, I was thinking, "you know, they really don't make much at all from album sales. It's the touring, merchandising and licensing where they get the revenue. They should just give the album away." And, now with the $0.99 thing on Amazon today, they practically are giving it away.

Will it make any impact in this week's sales numbers?
