Del_Duio
QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Apr 20 2012, 11:00 AM) QUOTE (metaldad @ Apr 20 2012, 10:57 AM) Leave the electronic bullshit at home and just play the f-n drums that and cut out the big band backround music. YES Much more than the 'electronic bullshit', the big band stuff has to go. It was funny once, 3 or 4 tours ago but now it's always in there. Beer breaks and Piss breaks are for the S&A songs Nobody is saying they don't like a drum solo , i love a good one People are just tired of the big band / electric thing he has done to death Lighten up

Pound of Obscure
QUOTE (druid13 @ Apr 20 2012, 11:42 AM) Ok headgear. I will say this. I will say it only once. If you wear headgear. Please wear it STRAIGHT on your head. Every time...every time..... I see Neil...its on crooked. Like looking at some goofy prep cook behind the DWs..... that would be a big solution to what is known as the headgear problem. Maybe a beret? Or a touk? However you spell it. I put the u in cause touks are Canadian.

Ged Lent's sis
I found the Red Lenses solo-break I was talking about, which is what made me think Headlong has a great spot for it in the middle: Bewarned: if you don't like the electronic drums, this is where it all began. Great friggin' solo. Seven days after this concert, I saw them in Indy. I was front row, right in front of Alex. As soon as Neil goes into the solo part of RL, big black guy doing security slowly turns his head around to take a look at wtf. At the conclusion, Alex reemerges lipping along with Geddy, "...barometer starts to fall..." and starts the 3 and 4 note sequence on his pedals before he rejoins with the guitar. It was an absolutely magnificent way to frame the Prof's Masterbatterie. There's another vid of one a few weeks earlier, but the sound and image blow out loud (and not in a good way). I'd replace an 8-minute drum solo with a combo of 'Cut To The Chase' and 'Something For Nothing'. Easily.

Snaked
Personally I love the drum solos but here is something to chew on. Do you remember your first RUSH show? Remember the first time you saw Neil solo? I'd venture to bet you looked at the person next to you at some point and went "WOW!". You might've even known it was coming.. but still, the first time seeing it live for yourself... it was pretty cool, eh? Now think about the person at each show who is there for the first time. They've never seen RUSH before. Maybe they've heard stories about 10 minute drum solos or maybe they have no clue whats coming and now consider for a moment how unfair it would be to that person not to have that "WOW!" moment. We've all had that moment... it's part of being a RUSH fan.
