Cyclonus X-1
I wouldn't want the T4E redo to be the actual cover, but I think it's really cool as a creative spin on the original. I'm digging your experimental efforts, even though they don't all work for me (I think recoloring Presto was a good idea, but the result here was too extreme; and I much prefer the original Roll the Bones cover to the dice-rainbow remix). danielmclark
If I might make a suggestion... while these are all good exercises in comping, layering and masking, the results often don't match the albums. Try to consider the tone or themes of the albums and tweak the covers using those kinds of elements. P/G, for example, is a pretty dark album. Brightening the cover might look okay, but it doesn't fit the tone of the album, you know? Counterparts is a good example of a plain cover that can be improved. It's grungy in parts, how about roughing up the cover? Remove the band name and replace it with more distressed text. Just a thought.

Really, I'm not trying to make any grand statement or to improve the covers (as I said in my first post), just re-imagining them using my own personal esthetics. 'twas only a suggestion - I reeeeally don't have the time to do my own versions, and I'm not putting yours down at all. It was just something that came to mind. TheAccountant
More thoughts: Signals - I like the original and the "Goober" version about the same. P/G - I like the "Goober" version more than the original. In particular I like what you did with the water. The sky, a little to much pink. Ton it down slightly, make it more red than pink. Still, an improvement. Power Windows - like the original more. Hold your fire - like the original more. Still, great stuff - keep them coming!!! Green grass, white/grey clouds, white/black/brown rabbits. This is way too overboard. A subdued quiet look would probably work better. Totally agree!! Natural colors would be better. Or just stick with the original (which I really like)

Photoshop Elements 7.0 gotcha not sure how interested you are in graphic design, but investing in an older version of CorelDraw ($50-$90) would help your speed issues tremendously using CorelDraw 12, accomplishing a task like coloring the dice is a 5 minute process

Again, I like the "Goober" version much more than the original. Great stuff. Thanks, accountant! It's such a simple cover (like HYF), so there wasn't much to work with. I was inspired by the tour book to change the outline to red, and since the title "Counterparts" wasn't on the original cover, I used the side flap of the CD for the color and font.
