I'm still on the fence about this one. Traditionally, I buy anything Portnoy does. However, I was at the show they did at the Hiro Ballroom last summer. Some of it, I liked. Some of it, I didn't like AT ALL!

 

I am more excited about his Flying Colors project.

 

I was most excited about his now-defunct John Sykes project. I'm curious as to who kept the songs. Will they be used with Kotzen or did Sykes keep them to use 10 years from now when he decides to finally put something out?

 

The ultimate MP project would be Portnoy, Petrucci, LaBrie, Myung and Rudess. But, that ain't happening. At least I like Mangini.

Yes!!!! It's a shame that they couldn't reach an agreement...now it looks like it'll take ages for them to get back together, IF that happens at all. Look at AC/DC, Phil Rudd was fired in '83 and only returned in '95!

I've heard the new song, it does sound like something by Disturbed, even Portnoy's drumming is different, not very DT, but the song is definitely nothing like Shittleback... laugh.gif

 

The guitarist is pretty good, I watched this video yesterday of him demonstrating his four Charvel guitars, it was pretty cool. Two of them I recognised, one is the model Holdsworth used in the early 80s, the San Dimas and one is a spit for Jake E Lee's 1983 axe. His playing was pretty impressive too.

 

I just wish Russel Allen would sing more like he normally does...

I'm not surprised by this at all. The last tour was a failure (at least in the USA) as the shows were sparsely attended and interest was low. I bet MP saw how much interest people have been showing in The Winery Dogs so he decided that AMob wasn't worth it. Of course, this is pure speculation on my part so it could have really been "scheduling conflicts".
