Prayers For Rain - The Cure

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnvAndYMjzw

Sample lyric:

You fracture me, your hands on me,
A touch so plain, so stale it kills.
You strangle me, entangle me
In hopelessness and prayers for rain.
I deteriorate.
I live in dirt.

"Angus Dei," from Benjamin Britten's "War Requiem." Nothing captures pitch-black despair better than complete rejection of anything that even slightly resembles the superficiality and orderly neatness of tonality. War Requiem is the most sobering piece I've ever heard, and I'm not even religious.

Between The Wheels, too. I love how Alex tuned down for it - incredibly soul-crushing.

This one breaks me, too.

I could go on forever with my favorite depressing pieces of music.
