It has moments, but those moments do not make this a memorable release, IMO. It would be a good listen for a stoner though. What I appreciate the most is that SW and AKF create music that is very interesting and NOT what we all want to here. Nice to know that there are still artists out there in the world. shail Posted May 1, 2012 Share Posted May 1, 2012 just great. steven wilson is now an artsy fartsy artist. writing and performing more boring landscape music. it's harder to write the material that he does with PT. guess he's giving his mind a break by playing 10 minute songs with 3 chord changes in it. Sounds great, but has no pulse at all and is flat...The tons of atmosphere does not make up for that to me. You keep expecting it to go somewhere, and it never does. I do quite like Lock Howl though. Records that are mostly ambient are not my thing though. Kind of boring really. Given the proper mood it will be a decent listen occasionally, but I don't see many people saying 'yeah, pop in Storm Corrosion!'... Another few listens to sink in better, but yeah... Oracle Posted May 1, 2012 Share Posted May 1, 2012 Somewhat impressed, mostly disappointed. Wasn't this album supposed to be heavier? It sounds like a combination of GfD and a Bass Communion album. Not to say the song is bad, but this is almost the complete opposite to what we were told this album is supposed to be. I'm not going to download the leak, because obviously that will sound much worse quality wise. I guess I'll just wait the six more days in order to fully judge the album. Pure and simple I love his ambient stuff as much as the prog metal ones (although what I heard of Bass Communion may be a bridge too far !!)
