Good, bad, andrush Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I need to know how to listen to those samples! It won't work.
The Owl Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Yeah, Im not seeing samples either, just the tracklisting, but with no option to play a sample.
PolarizeMe Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 If anything, either the record label, Steven and/or Mikael asked them to take it down. Too bad, I wasn't one of the lucky people who got to hear samples of it. But on a positive side, the video of Drag Ropes should debut sometime this week (maybe Saturday to coincide with Record Store Day).
ColdFireYYZ Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Apparently the album is available to download from itunes in Poland. You need to live in Poland to download it but the samples are accessible. http://itunes.apple.com/pl/album/storm-corrosion/id513304361

PolarizeMe Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Strange. It was working for me and the samples they played were 1:30 in length.

ColdFireYYZ Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 The Drag Ropes video is premiering tomorrow at 11am EST. The album obviously leaked already but I'm waiting until my copy comes in the mail.

The samples I heard are good enough for me for now so I can wait another 2 weeks for the real thing.
Hatchetaxe&saw Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 4* review in Mojo.... "Porcupine Tree & Opeth men prove that prog is not a four-letter word." Yes, we get it, prog is meant to be sh*t, haw haw. Wankers.
ColdFireYYZ Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 http://www.roadrunnerrecords.co.uk/page/News?news_id=119278 Drag Ropes video! The song is very good but pretty mellow, as I expected. Still, this is going to be an awesome album.
PolarizeMe Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 My first impression was that it's a pretty good song, definitely dark, twisted and mysterious. The video makes me even more excited for the actual album.
treeduck Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Is Akerfeldt handling most of the vocals I wonder? Sounds good, I wouldn't call it mellow, more haunting and atmospheric.
tjtull Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 The song goes very well with the video. There's a great section between 4:00 and 8:00 with some cool chanting and good guitar work. Otherwise, I'd say it's a bit more "atmospheric" than I was hoping for (and I'm a fan of ambient music). I have a feeling I'm going to need to be in a certain mood to listen to this. If the rest of the album sounds like Drag Ropes, the album will have a fall/winter feel to it. I love albums with dark moods that remind me of colder weather. However, this is coming out in the middle of spring so it might be a while before I'm in the right mood for it.
The Owl Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Was anyone else besides me reminded of the plot to Opeth's concept album "Still Life" while watching this video?

Good, bad, andrush Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 That's exactly the type of music I have been waiting for. What a f*cked up video
