ColdFireYYZ Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I hope its the price of a regular CD, not some outrageously high price since its a limited edition.

Same here. In other news, StarsDie.com recently did an interview with Steven with fan submitted questions. Interview is here. I find it interesting that he wants to put the Bass Communion catalog into a box set. If that happens, I hope it's like the I.E.M. box. Another cool thing is that there's 5.1 mixes he hasn't released yet, hopefully we see those soon. I'm surprised no one asked about the Cover Version box and if he was going to reissue it.

Oracle Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 So getting a signed copy when I order it tonight. Thanks for the heads up!
ColdFireYYZ Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Got a copy!! I was going to get the signed one but I decided to go with the unsigned to save money. I already have his autograph so that's no big deal. Can't wait to listen to it!
Oracle Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Just an update, Steven now says at least half of the stock is now GONE and that 30-40% of the orders are signed copies. If you want a copy, it will most likely be gone in a day!
PolarizeMe Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I picked up a regular copy to save money as well. Steven signed my copy of Insurgentes and the deluxe edition of Grace for Drowning in NYC so I don't mind. I actually used my iPhone to buy the CD before class started because I was afraid it was gonna sell out by the end of the day. Good thing I played it safe. Steven's probably gonna save at least half of what's remaining for the merch booth during this leg of the tour.

I texted my mom during school to get her to order it for me thinking that it would sell out in hours. I'm surprised that there's still copies, especially since they're holding some.

Looks like they've stopped selling copies for now. Headphone Dust now has this message under the live CD. QUOTE "We have temporarily removed the PayPal buttons to take stock. More copies will be released soon so please don't send request e-mails in the meantime!!" He's probably gonna do a headcount on how many copies he's gonna hold back for the shows and then release the remaining copies on the website. Definitely wants to avoid the situation that occurred with the new Bass Communion album selling out in the merch booth before the start of the US leg last year.
Presto45 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 SW Grace for Drowning is so Awesome its one of the Best albums and trust me I love Insurgentes too and also I love Porcupine Tree !!!
rushgoober Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 (edited) Ok, I finally listened to all of this, most of it twice. Here's my track by track breakdown: Disc One Grace For Drowning - beautiful introduction, and somehow reminds me of vintage Italian prog - a very pretty song and a great lead-in. Sectarian - GREAT prog instrumental and definitely somewhat of a mini-classic. I love the mellotron (or whatever that is that sounds like a mellotron). Classic soaring symphonic heavy prog. Deform to Form a Star - Often where PT loses me is in their lyrical material (or when they try to get a little too metal), as I generally greatly prefer their instrumental parts/tracks. Otherwise I'd be a MUCH bigger PT fan. This song, however, is really beautiful and amazing. The lyrics are very reminiscent of some mid-70's Crimson, save for the chorus. No Part Of Me - This song doesn't do it for me as much. Too many disparate elements that don't really go together, though I like some parts individually, especially the electronic-y opening. The lyrics are only ok, and the obligatory heavy metal riffing I only find partially interesting. Easily the weakest track so far, though I imagine many would love this song. Postcard - A pretty sounding song, but again the lyrics are just kind of meh for me. I don't know, I really admire Steve Wilson's compositional ability and musical prowess, but lyrically he's really hit and miss for me - more miss than hit. Raider Prelude - very nice short atmospheric instrumental track Remainder the Black Dog - Here the disparate parts of the song work a lot better for me than with No Part Of Me. Even the heavy metal riffage part has got an interesting enough effect with it that it holds my interest. Lyrically is the only place where the song is a tad weak, but mostly it's a really good track that might be a grower. I'm sure some find this instantly epic, and I can see that. It might become that for me, as it's got a lot going for it. Disc two review to come later... Edited February 9, 2012 by rushgoober
Good, bad, andrush Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Got my tickets And gobs, I think the lyrics in postcard, while maybe not genius, hit home really hard. I don't think he's trying to be a lyrical genius. But the second he says "lost you," and the drums and choir come in...that wouldn't sound as beautiful as it does without those lyrics. That music really screams out that nothing matters anymore, and that's what makes it so damn beautiful, postcard is my favorite simple song in existence. It's simple but it's still prog as hell!
