Ian Paice was also in Whitesnake for a while. Damn I love early Whitesnake.

Anyway, which Deep Purple MK is your favorite?

It's quite simple for me actually.

It's MK III!

Nothing can touch the Hughes, Coverdale, Blackmore albums!!

"Stormbringer" rules but nothing touches "BURN!" 1287.gif firedevil.gif 1287.gif

Tommy Bolin was amazing too. Satriani was in the band from 1993 to 1994. I actually have a Deep Purple Joe Satriani pick.

Steve Morse is a mortal guitar god too! Endless!

I don't think I can pick one Earl, I might have to be dull and say ALL.

This is also a tough poll - overall I'll go with MKII.

'Burn' and 'Stormbringer' are great but I prefer Gillan.

Incredible. You my friend are NEVER dull and I finally was able to write something on this Forum to make you type in that word.

Amazing.

You are anything but dull and you are a good friend but I got you.

Hey Grey!

You are an excellent addition to this Forum. Glad you tolerate my zany polls.

I love writing tough polls. Some are easier than others.

Being tougher makes you think harder!

I would pick ALL too! I love Purple and all it's reincarnations. But, for the purposes of the poll it has to be II.

The evidence....

Black Night & Hallelujah

Concerto......!

In Rock

Fireball

Machine Head

Who Do We Think We Are

Made In Japan

And the bootlegs are sensational from that era.

III follows closely behind, but they got very sloppy live, as the bootlegs attest, mainly thanks to Glenda Hughes and her extra curricular habits.

Love most of your polls (except the mother of all apples to oranges poll - 'Stevie Wonder vs. The Beatles')

MKII is my favorite, but I like the current line up as well. Bananas is the only album with Morse that I have, and its great. MK1 was good too. Shades of Deep Purple is a great album, but once Rod Evans and Nick Simper left they became a much better band. Ian Gillan is one of the best singers of the 70's.

I'm not familiar with their other lineups, but I've liked what I've heard from MKIII.

Ditto for me though MK I is good too. As mentioned above, Shades is a very nice album.

Ian Gillan is an all-time great.

He is that. His autobiography "Child In Time" is hilarious, and his book of musings and bollocks talk, "Smoke This", is highly amusing too.

And the man don't give a f*ck. The dude is so louche, he's an example to us all!
