Good, bad, andrush
QUOTE (ReRushed @ May 26 2011, 08:28 AM) I have most of those albums! Same but I need the italian stuff. And by Supertramp I only have Breakfast in America. My guitarist loves Supertramp but i'm looking to listen to them more soon. And yes, AFTK and Hemi are a lot more prog than moving pictures, at least for the purpose of this list. The Italian stuff i have heard on Goober's show is reallygood. Tony R
Supertramp are about as Prog as ABBA. I'd also opine that AFTK and Hemspheres are more Prog than MP.
Tony R
The only album in that top 25 I don't have is the aforementioned Supertramp. I'd rate SEBTP way above any Tull and PFM's Storia above their Per UN Amico. Both bloody fine albums though. Harmonium's album is a beautiful example of folky symphonic Prog. Oracle
'Red' should be number 8. It's way better than Floyd's 'Animals'.

In A Tidewater Surge
Red is by far better than anything Floyd ever did imo I'd put it much higher up

That top 25 is, on the whole, a very conservative list and an easy "in" for most noobs. Very useful for your thread about introducing someone to Prog. RUSHHEAD666
QUOTE (Tony R @ May 26 2011, 04:13 PM) Supertramp are about as Prog as ABBA. I'd also opine that AFTK and Hemspheres are more Prog than MP. I don't think Supertramp is a progressive band, but I like the "Crime" pick. I think it's a progressive album for a great rock band. "School" is my all time song by the Tramp. It's proggy to me. ABBA became progressive pop eventually with their self titled album. "Eagle" says it all.

Hatchetaxe&saw
A bloody good list. The only one I don't have is the Banco(Thanks Tony!) album, must check it out. Wouldn't have Thick As A Brick in there though, a prog album taking the piss out of prog albums as a top prog album????? Nope....too much padding, same as A Passion Play. Wish You Were Here.....hmmmm...let down by the pedestrian Have A Cigar and Welcome To The MAchine, which is pants... Are Supertramp prog......strictly speaking, no. They're still bloody(well right) marvellous though. And no Abba.... NO ABBA?????
