Fridge
Jesus. Obviously a product of the "I want it now" generation, this woman is a complete and unadulterated idiot. Another point I would make...if a book has grammatical and spelling errors then it is most certainly not "literature".

Janie
Hooboy. She's a work of art. Speaking as someone with writing experience, you need to be able to take criticism. Authors, actors, photographers, etc. need to develop a thick skin or you will not survive. This lady is sinking like a lead weight. IMO, I liked criticism. That's how you learn. You can't take things personally. Having said that, a lot of writers have atrocious grammar and can't spell a dang thing. It's the job of editors to correct these things. How come no one checked for spelling and grammatical errors before publishing? Or did she publish this herself?
1-0-0-1-0-0-1
It doesn't bode well for your book when the reviews and comments get more attention than the book itself.
Mara
It's truly sad when you're logging onto Amazon under various alters to post positive reviews of your own work and slag the critics at the same time! Kind of reminds me of what happens when anyone dares criticize the works of Stephenie Meyer (Twilight), except that it's the fans who get all butthurt. Meyer can't write, but at least she's wise enough to avoid pissing matches with critics.

There's vast degrees of literary suckage out there that is making millions. I'd love to see the original drafts of many of these blockbusters.. I guess McCarthy needs to give back his Pulitzer and Faulkner ought to give back his Nobel. Like most fear the Reaper, this girl (like most people) fears the Dreaded Red Ink Pen of Editing. She's young, naive, and hasn't been through the ropes, which you really don't get unless you get a MFA in Creative Writing, which is what most authors do nowadays. What she needs to do is do just that (get her MFA) and then from there get an editor or a literary agent, which is a lot harder than one realizes, just like getting published is a lot harder than one realizes. Ah, everyone thinks they can be a writer these days. *slaps everyone over the head with Vergil*

Oh, and you say Vergil, I say Virgil! Read what I wrote about the woman. And I was being facetious (pertaining to you) so I wasn't actually making a comparison. If anything I was being sarcastic. I tend to do that. The correct Roman Latinate spelling is Vergil. The English spelling is Virgil. I took six years of Latin, I'm just used to spelling it Vergil and I have my Mac setting to Irish so it doesn't correct it. I can spell it Virgil if you like. BTW, Toni Morrison earns less than Snooki for public appearances! *facepalm* Edited April 2, 2011 by garbo
