This is hard..... my personal favorite is "Rainbow Eyes" just a beautiful song.... but I can barley listen to that song anymore (RIP Ronnie) without tearing up.

The best Rainbow song from that first era is without doubt "Stargazer" just an awesome heavy and rocking song..........."Gates of Babylon" is up there as well.

I voted for Stargazer.

Even though the first song that I heard and fell in love with was

Man On The Silver Mountain.

I also love Tarot Woman, Gates of Babylon, A Light In The Black.

Hell I LOVE everything he did with Rainbow!

Except for Black Sheep Of The Family. no.gif

Excellent poll Owl! Since Treeduck has disappeared it's nice to see an Owl continue the trend of fun rock n roll polls!!

Tough question so I had to go with most underrated Rainbow song. I love it even though it's on the mellow side.

It's "Temple Of The King." Great beautiful song. yes.gif

Excellent choice! I considered that, Self Portrait, 16th Cent Greensleeves, Kill The King but ultimately had to go with Man On The Silver Mountain.

No sighs or mysteries

She lay golden in the sun

No broken harmonies

But I've lost my way

She had rainbow eyes

Maybe not the best, but probably my favorite Rainbow song.

I had to go for 'The Shed (Subtle)' - the proper title. The way it starts and then kicks in, superb.

As for Rainbow Eyes. The song should never have been on Long Live Rock 'n' Roll. It destroyed a killer album. I always end the LP/cd early by giving up on 'Eyes'. The album would have been an out and out 5 star classic, but for that last track. Hated the song in '78, and it still stinks - IMHO

Sure the song is a departure from the rest of the album, but not only is the song beautiful, it showcases a side of Dio that is rarely seen, his voice is just amazing in the song.
