WIDE-ANGLE WATCHER
I am really warming up to the set list now. There were a few songs I wasn't too thrilled about at first but after a few more listens and debates with my friends I totally okay with it. To see 4 songs never played live and the MP thing, along with Marathon and La Villa I am happy. I wish it was that easy for all RUSH fans to embrace this set list and to enjoy it. I'm thinking they only have about 4 or 5 tours left in them.....so enjoy....be happy.

I like yours better....sorry Kenneth I edited stick it out to a happy smiley. And I actually love S&A it's just I don't think workin' them angels is necessary, and I don't have faith in faithless (just because the lyrics bring me down)... And bu2b: I really don't like in general.. But others will like them playing these songs a lot (faithless and bu2b), so I guess the setlist is good the way it is. Not everything pleases everyone. JPRushHed
I often get tagged a fanboi on the other board. That being said, I think the setlist is lame. Time Stand Still - Presto - Leave That Thing Alone - I wish they would have left it alone. Stick It Out - Obviously the band like this one, cause the fans weren't asking for it. Faithless - What were they thinking? Possible worst ever choice for a setlist selection after Summertime Blues on R30.

amylovesrush
To each their own, but I was thrilled to hear "Presto" and "Marathon" live, because the first has a lot of personal meaning to me - as does the second, in addition to the massive swell of choir/orchestra/band/bass pedals. There were some sound issues during "Marathon" with keys and FX which diminished the enjoyment a bit, but it was still awesome. "Time Stand Still" has a lot more meaning now that I'm older, and in a way, plays into the Time Machine theme. And some of the songs had some interesting new arrangements. It'd be a shame to miss the tour based upon what appears to be - but isn't - an uninteresting setlist. Some of the choices will seem more relevant if you've seen the new documentary. Todem
Note to self. Do not watch You Tube vids anymore!!! I went ahead and peaked at Presto and Marathon on You Tube. First off it's unreal that you can record and upload with decent quality. But the audio is awful. So it is not a good measure of their performance at all. Note to Alex - Buddy...you need to nail that solo in Presto.....you flubbed it bad opening night. Gotta call that out as a guitarist. Glad I am seeing them on the last 2 shows...I figure Alex and the rest of the band will have this stuff down with their eyes closed and all the technical glitches I heard on Marathon will be worked out as well. Rush Cocky
SET 1 THE SPIRIT OF RADIO - Predictable. And stale, if you ask me. TIME STAND STILL - Never really liked the song that much, and HYF is one of my least favorite Rush albums. PRESTO - Interesting choice. Also my 2nd least favorite track on the album of the same name. STICK IT OUT - Good solid track. We've heard it recently though, so ho-hum. WORKIN' THEM ANGELS - IMO in the bottom half of weaker tracks on Snakes & Arrows. LEAVE THAT THING ALONE - One I like, even though it's been done a lot lately too. FAITHLESS - My 2nd least favorite track from S&A period BU2B - I haven't listened to this song in 2 weeks now. It never did grab me. FREE WILL - A timeless classic, I like it. MARATHON - THIS is the HIGHLIGHT of the show for me. I LOVE MARATHON!!!! SUBDIVISIONS - Meh....heard it a lot lately SET 2 TOM SAWYER - See below RED BARCHETTA - See below YYZ - See below LIMELIGHT - See below CAMERA EYE - See below WITCH HUNT - See below VITAL SIGNS - OK, how can you go wrong playing all of Moving Pictures? You CAN'T. I love all 7 songs here. CARAVAN - Love the track. Putting it after Moving Pictures is interesting LOVE 4 SALE - Can't wait to hear this one! CLOSER TO THE HEART - OK, we haven't heard it since Rio, should be good. 2112 OVERTURE / TEMPLES - I like it..... FAR CRY - I love it.... .....I want more of it. Hey, there's an encore! ENCORE LA VILLA STRANGIATO - Fun, fun song. Always a fav. WORKING MAN - A classic song, but one I've heard 10,000 times. OK. Overall, I hate set 1, Set 2 is decent, the encore is so-so. Rush could have done better IMO.

Middle Kingdom
I did not know the songs before I went to the Mohegan Show. My take: SET 1 THE SPIRIT OF RADIO - Always thought an excellent opener. TIME STAND STILL - I'm good with this. Haven't heard this one live in a while. PRESTO - Illicited a WOW! out of me when it started at the Mohegan show. Nice, unexpected choice. STICK IT OUT - Haven't heard this since T4E, and it should have stayed that way. Booo-urns. WORKIN' THEM ANGELS - I like it and figured it would be in the set. LEAVE THAT THING ALONE - Good tune but would have thought MalNar would be here instead. FAITHLESS - Interesting choice for another never played before tune. Okay song. BU2B - I like it. FREE WILL - Knew it was coming, hoped it wasn't. would have had an older song in it's place. MARATHON - Excellent. Was hoping this came back....and it did! SUBDIVISIONS - Poor set closer, plus they nailed it on S&A, and would rather Chemistry or The Weapon (placed earlier in the set) in it's place. Was hoping Jacob's Ladder closed out the set. Surprised when they ran off at this point. SET 2 TOM SAWYER - See below RED BARCHETTA - See below YYZ - See below LIMELIGHT - See below CAMERA EYE - See below WITCH HUNT - See below VITAL SIGNS - MP was Well done, even if Camere Eye was slightly shortened. The inter-song animation was not up to par I felt, though. CARAVAN - assumed this would follow since they did 7 oldies in a row to start. Good song. LOVE 4 SALE - Is it me or is the 1st part on the electronic side underwhelming? A great job by Neil, but the punch just wasn't there. CLOSER TO THE HEART - Not since T4E, so not a bad choice. 2112 OVERTURE / TEMPLES - Okay but would rather In The End or Anthem FAR CRY - I love it, but not a set closer either. Very good set, feels like there's an oldie missing, something after FC to send us off roaring. Maybe it feels as such because MP was stacked at the top. ENCORE LA VILLA STRANGIATO - Glad it's back even sans rant. WORKING MAN - Not thrilled since it was done on VT, was hoping Cinderella Man was resurrected. Good closer though. There should be 3 songs, in my opinion. Seeing the guys live is awesome though, and while you're there, just enjoy whatever they trot out. It's not disappointing. Even Stick it Out, once it gets rolling. Edited July 24, 2010 by Middle Kingdom
