Ceiling Unlimited Earthshine Armor and Sword Vapor Trails Spindrift Nocturne Freeze TMMB Stars Look Down As you can see basically what I did was pick all the songs that I feel have a more modern and edgy sound to them, and dumped all the other crap. To me this would be a pretty strong album. Armor and Sword has an edgy sound? Nope. Not one bit Well I only put A&S in there because of the middle bridge section, which sort of has those odd chords, which is the only part of that song that sounds sort of like what you would hear today, otherwise there isnt much from S&A I could put on there, so I had to pick something. I almost put Far Cry on there since its a little heavy, but I dont really like the melodies at all. Its almost as weak of an opening song as T4E is. Mr. Not
QUOTE (GrandDesigner @ May 12 2010, 11:13 AM) I think my issue with the post-HYF albums is that I often like half of the songs A LOT (and apparently the band feels the same way since they've only done half of each album live) and just despise the other half. So if you were to combine the pairs of similar albums into one album, what would the tracklist be? Keep the amount of songs the same as whatever the tracklist of the average of the two is (Presto/RTB, CP/TFE, VT/S&A) 1. Show Don't Tell 2. Bravado 3. The Pass 4. Chain Lightning 5. Heresy 6. Dreamline 7. Presto 8. Roll The Bones 9. Hand Over Fist 10. Available Light 1. Animate 2. Double Agent 3. Stick It Out 4. Cut To The Chase 5. Half The World 6. Time & Motion 7. Alien Shore 8. Virtuality 9. Resist 10. Leave That Thing Alone 11. Test For Echo 1. Far Cry 2. Armor & Sword 3. Earthshine 4. Peaceable Kingdom 5. Spindrift 6. Bravest Face 7. Faithless 8. Sweet Miracle 9. Vapor Trail 10. Secret Touch 11. Freeze 12. One Little Victory The TFE/CP one would definitely be one of my top Rush albums if it had that tracklist, the Presto/RTB loses most of its filler songs, yet I still pretty much dislike the VT/S&A one. Now earlier I posted an edit between pairs of two from their first 6 albums (the 70s albums), and that was purely for the fun of eliminating certain songs, because I like all of the songs on all 6 of those albums (some just to an extent). Now as for what I'm really supposed to be doing in this thread... [Presto/RTB] Show Don't Tell Chain Lightning Roll the Bones The Pass Superconducter Anagram Hand over Fist Available Light Bravado [CP/T4E] Disc 1 Counterparts Disc 2 Test for echo [VT/S&A| Disc 1 Vapor Trails Disc 2 Snakes & Arrows

1-0-0-1-0-0-1
I would combine Presto and RTB, because those are the weakest for me. Combining the best songs from those two won't fatten up the thin and wimpy production, but whatever. T4E is also pretty weak, but it's a nice heavy-sounding album and wouldn't want to mix it with either of the other two. I like most of CP and almost all of VT so I'll leave those alone. Show Don't Tell Chain Lightning The Pass Presto (one of Rush's most under-appreciated songs) Dreamline Bravado (mainly because of Neil's drumming at the end) Where's My Thing? Ghost Of A Chance Only 8 songs between both albums. That would fit nicely on vinyl -- Presto songs on side 1, RTB on side 2.

Armor and Sword is definitely not that Armor & Sword is actually a VERY heavy song and rocks really hard IMHO. It just isn't FAST. Honestly though, soft, hard, slow, fast - all I care about is if it's a great song, and A&S is a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. NOBODY GETS TO THEIR HEAVEN WITHOUT A FIGHT!
