We can walk our road together

If our goals are all the same

We can run alone and free

If we pursue a different aim

Let the truth of love be lighted

Let the love of truth shine clear

Sensibility

Armed with sense and liberty

With the heart and mind united in a single

Perfect

Sphere

Was just going to post that.

My favorite lyrics from Neil.

"Wheels can take you around. Wheels can cut you down."

"A whole wide world, an endless universe - yet we keep looking through the eyeglass in reverse."

"Well, I was only a kid on an unholy crusade; I placed no trust in a faith that was ready-made."

"Carve away the stone. Make a graven image with some features of your own."

"Angels and demons dancing in my head, lunatics and monsters underneath my bed. Media messiahs preying on my fears, pop-culture prophets playing in my ears."

"Wheel goes 'round, landing on a twist of faith. Taking your chances you'll have the right answers when the Final Judgment begins. Wheel goes 'round, landing on a leap of fate. Likely directed in ways unexpected - sometimes the odd number wins, the way the big wheel spins."

"Cinderella man, doing what you can. They can't understand what it means. Cinderella man, hang onto your plan. Try as they might, they cannot steal your dreams."

"Like the fly on the wheel who says, What a lot of dust we're raising!, are you under the illusion that you're part of this scheme?...Like the rat in a maze who says, Watch me choose my own direction!, are you under the illusion that the path is winding your way?"

His reliance on the giants

In the science of the day.

He picks up scraps of information -

He's adept at adaptation

'Cause for strangers and arrangers

Constant change is here to stay.

Some will sell their dreams for small desires

Or lose the race to rats

Get caught in ticking traps

And start to dream of somewhere

To relax their restless flight.

Some are born to move the world -

To live their fantasies

But most of us just dream about

The things we'd like to be.

Got my sights on the stars, won't get that far

But I'll try anyway.

Time is a gypsy caravan

Steals away in the night

To leave you stranded in Dreamland

Distance is a long-range filter

Memory a flickering light

Left behind in the heartland.

play of light

a photograph

the way I used to be

some half-forgotten stranger

doesn't mean that much to me.

Just to name a few

QUOTE (trenken @ Feb 22 2010, 05:49 PM)
There's just too much to remember to pick a favorite right now, but this comes to mind.

No hero in your tragedy
No daring in your escape
No salutes for your surrender
Nothing noble in your fate
Christ, what have you done?

Ahh, The Pass. That song is just brilliant. 2.gif One of my all-time favourites, though not a song that I listen to on a regular basis.

"You can fight...fight without ever winning - but never ever win...win without a fight."

"Folks are basically decent, conventional wisdom would say - well, we read about the exceptions in the papers every day."

Yeah Neil likes to play back and forth with his lyrics like that. Or find different ways to say the same thing, which I appreciate. Not that it's difficult for someone willing to work on doing it, but the truth is so few are willing to put that effort it, so when he does it I always love it.

Not everything he writes is original, in fact much of it isnt, but the way in which he writes it is where the art is in what he does, so im a big fan of that.

Mine too! Just awesome. I also like

Hold your fire,

keep it burning bright.

Hold the flame til the dream ignites,

a spirit with a vision is a dream,

with a mission.

And...

...Another cloudy day.

Seems will never see the sun.

I feel the day has possibilities...

And...

Time after time we lose sight of the ways

are causes can see their effect.

we've got mars on the horizon

says the national midnight star

(it's true)

what you believe is what you are

a pair of dancing shoes-

the soviets are the blues-

and

Some will sell their dreams for small desires

Or lose the race to rats

Get caught in ticking traps

And start to dream of somewhere

To relax their restless flight

Somewhere out of a memory

Of lighted streets on quiet nights...

So many to choose from but a couple of examples I like.

Hero, is the voice of reason against the howling mob

Hero, is the pride of purpose in the unrewarding job.

Or

Quick to judge, quick to anger, slow to understand

Ignorance and prejudice and fear walk hand in hand.

Leave out the fiction--

The fact is;

This friction

Will only be worn by persistence

Leave out conditions--

Courageous convictions

Will drag the dream into existence

Growing up it all seems so one-sided

Opinions all provided

The future pre-decided

Detached and subdivided

In the mass production zone

Nowhere is the dreamer or the misfit so alone

Being a young teen' in the 80's being shoved from city life - no song made more sense in its day. The last line served to be more than fitting....for me at least.

Hand over fist, paper around the stone

Scissors cut the paper, cut the paper to the bone

Hand over hand doesn't seem so much

Hand over hand is a strength of the common touch
