Hey Folks,

Thought you might be interested in this --- I conducted an interview with Ian Grandy and it's just been published at the newly-launched site GuitarInternational.com:

http://guitarinternational.com/wpmu/2009/0...s-first-roadie/

In case you don't know, Ian was Rush's very first roadie. He started working for the band in January, 1969, and was with them all the way up to April, 1983 (Signals tour).

From 1969 through 1980, he was their FOH sound engineer. In addition, from 1969 to 1977 he was also the drum tech. During the waning days of his tenure with the band (1981-1983) he was head of security (He can be briefly seen at the opening of the Exit...Stage Left video shepherding the band to the stage).

Cheers,

-Skip

hmmmmm....

my spider senses are tingling..... feels to me like there's a bit of bad blood between he and the band at this point? He's gracious in the interview, but if you read between the lines, seems like there's some ill feelings.

Either that or I'm a bit tired at this hour and have mis interpreted his tone?

I agree 100%. Rush has seemed to have gone through a lot of roadies in the last 35 years. Which is somewhat normal, but it seems a lot of them have either been given the axe or not left on good terms. If he had a chance to see Rush, he would not. Something must have happened.
