mini
QUOTE (Ya_Big_Tree @ Dec 11 2008, 12:54 AM) QUOTE (CeeJ @ Dec 10 2008, 11:01 PM) QUOTE (gleamingalloyaircar81 @ Dec 10 2008, 09:50 PM) I find its better to have a person have their own thread. All the attention is on them and looking at their thread can clear up a sad day. We have 6,877 members here. We can't possibly have a thread for each person. This amount of appreciation threads is burying the threads that we are looking for. Haven't we discussed this before? I know you love to add to that post count of yours but really you need to think a bit. One thread should cover everyone. IMO and a few others that feel the same way. Actually I think the appreciation threads keep a lot of conversations in one area and leave the rest of the board clean of conversations that the rest of the board might not want to be subjected to. If you remember how it used to be, a lot of people were commenting to posts that weren't met for them and a lot of people were getting offended. While we can't mend the generation gap we have here because Rush fans come in all ages I think that by creating a mini forum area where we can go to post this stuff ie: the appreciation threads in GD we have actually fixed that problem. That being said the people who have appreciation threads (myself included) are not saying we are better than anyone else on the board. You guys are all awesome! But it's just a place that we have to conduct certain conversations that a lot of people would either find childish or would say that our threads clutter up the board. I think we should keep them. Wholeheartedly agree.

Verena
Appreciation threads are about liking someone and inside them we always find talks and fun stuff that other people aren't necessarily interested in reading or participating. They always cheer someone up in a bad day and it's fun reading messages from people who care. We can't make a thread for everyone here and many other people have the right to participate. I understand that. There are many cool people in this forum. Although I still think appreciation threads should be kept; to me they don't mean "status" and *aren't "about post count"*. I agree with you Rhyv!! Me too! Honestly what is the difference between spamming in the "Word Association" thread and in the "Aprreciation" threads. If you arent taking issue with one then why the other? At least the appreciation threads have more than just one word posts.

I knew someone would say that... Sometimes I think certain threads should be merged. But in certain pages there are specific content. People just felt like making appreciation threads because they wanted to show their friendship... There are many ways to show how we like to be friends. The chosen way to express friendship was making a thread. They're about time and care spent knowing each other. They're about friendship. It isn't necessary to blame people who have appreciation threads and isn't necessary to blame people who made these threads too. If Administrators decide to merge in only one thread I'll understand. And I'll still appreciate many people the same way.

Daylin
I first want to say to rhyv, that I'm very touched that you made the thread. You KNOW that! And everyone who stopped by to say 'hi' But, I feel that it should be removed, because it's very new and Lady Aprils, Jaye, Ya Ya, etc., should stay. They have been here very long and have stories built and shared. I thought this was discussed before. Only the threads that are left would stay, which they did. So, I think they should stay now. Nobody ever had a problem with them before, so just don't make any new appreciation threads, just have one thread if you want. Any mods or admins reading this... please remove my thread. Again, rhyv, thank you. But, I think this is for the best.

Verena
I also think there's no reason to discuss. I said only what was necessary in two posts and that's enough. The Admistrators will make the choice to close them or not.

Janie
Holy!? There are almost 20 "appreciation" threads. It's funny that the only one pinned is the Hilda one and she doesn't even post here (very rarely anyway). I'm cool with being under-appreciated. Maybe I should explain what I THOUGHT GRAND DESIGNS was set up for: GD was set up for COMEDY!!! Comedy that some people understood, and others didn't APPRECIATE over in Randon Samples. This was nick-named the "playground". When people come over here looking for comedy and have to search back pages in a place where all should be funny, I just don't get it. I think this is why GD is now not what it used to be. We tried to a few threads a couple of months back to show what this place was like, but I guess it will NEVER be the same. Oh well... Have fun. BTW... This sin't about weather someone is liked or disliked. It was about trying to get the humor back to the board. Some of us really enjoyed hanging out over here and now I see that doesn't happen anymore. When I talk to these people, they say that it just isn't the same. I appreciate you all listening and responding. I thought GD was something that it isn't. A place for comedy.

You know that's not funny. I was put in a tough spot. From this thread. I had to tell the person that started my thread why I want it closed. Hoping I wouldn't hurt her feelings. That's not right nor fair and I'm so sick of this! Close the f***ing threads already. Make everybody happy, okay I'm out of here.
CeeJ
I didn't do this to be an ass. I did it to try and stop some of the others from making more. I never said anything about locking the ones that are already there. I just thought that if I started 1 thread and put a few names in it, that the others would just add to that thread so to prevent others from making a bunch of new ones. There don't appear to be any real explanations of what is or isn't "supposed to be" posted in either Grand Designs or Random Samples. We have "Random Samples, the higher level static of talk," and "Grand Designs, style without substance, stuff without style." Those descriptions give absolutely no guideline about what kind of thing should be posted. If a forum is meant to be for a specific purpose, shouldn't that be specified at least somewhere in its description?

It was a place where you found the funny threads or the threads where alot of pics were posted. It wasn't the same thread for several different people down the page. Really... Who cares anyway??? It was just a suggestion so that maybe we could find other threads more easily. Like I said in the other post... I didn't start this to piss people off. People are different they think and sense different. We can deal appreciation threads and the comedy threads too. I understood your point of view and you didn't write this to piss anyone off.
