Snakes and Arrows doesn't quite do it for me. I don't think it's as strong of an album as Power Windows, or Grace Under Pressure, or Hold Your Fire. It's definitely better than Test For Echo, Roll the Bones, or Counterparts (but anything is better than Counterparts.) I wouldn't say it's the "best album since" anything, but on equal or lesser status than the ones previously mentioned.

I picked Moving Pictures only because I had to pick one and that's their biggest seller to date. I think S&A is their unparallelled best work, I hope it sells more than Moving Pictures. S&A is now my co-favorite along with Caress of Steel. That was the seminal Rush album, and my introduction to the band. You never forget your first.

Went with HYF.

 

I had to stop and think about T4E a bit but it is better than that album, if for no other reason than Dog Years ( ).

 

Counterparts & Presto it just gets by. HYF? Stops there.

 

The other albums did not warrant serious consideration against it.

Ditto. There are some good tunes on S&A but the rest is a filler-fest.

 

Vapor Trails, questionable mixjob aside, is one of my favorite albums

Agreed that VT is better than TFE and CP. To me, i'd say TFE, CP, and S&A are easily near the bottom of their catalog....

I'd say S & A is about on par with Test For Echo. Neither are as good as Counterparts, but both are better than Vapor Trails. Edited April 11, 2012 by 1 of the 7
