A Companion Unobtrusive
Personally, I'm beginning to wonder about my mental health, because over the last couple of years I've become gradually more and more one-track minded and these days I practically ONLY listen to Rush. I know you guys probably think that's normal, but who are you to tell? There is so much great music out there (and on my shelves), but I hardly ever seem to bother about all my other discs, which seriously worries me! They've been number one for decades, but I used to at least be able to enjoy them among other bands. Something is wrong here. If I had to pick a second it would have to be THIN LIZZY - Phil the Great RIP! Other bands for you who feel like picking up something good, less heard and quite different: From Canada: Moxy Fruvous, The Tragically Hip From Australia: Not Drowning Waving, V Spy V Spy The Companion
BigG
Companion, I'd say listening only to Rush is perfectly normal adult behavior - well, there's a least a few of us here who think so, so it can't be really wierd, can it? With so many albums there's always one for every mood, so I'm always in a Rush mood! From happy and Best I Can to sad with Afterimage and all points in between. You know as I get older Rush is one of the only bands that addresses complexity of emotion (every one got mixed feelings) so I too am getting more Rush fixated I have to listen to other stuff when other people are about, (Jon Hopkins and Theivery Corp at the mo'), but Rush it definitely the only rock music I ever listen to. Rhiannon_of_Rivendell
OK, I figure if I'm gonna make my 100th post, this is the place to do it. I know I'm leaving some out, I just can't remember right now RUSH Led Zeppelin Wes Montgomery Kenny Burrell Joe Pass The Paul Bacon Quartet (Eh LSM?) Jimmy Smith Tony Bennett Mel Torme Frank Sinatra Les Paul SRV RULES! Andre Segovia Beethoven Chopin Bach Debussey William Ackerman Triumph Survivor Eric Clapton Heart Def Leppard Blue Oyster Cult (my first concert was BOC & Foghat) Foghat Sweet Aerosmith Boston Journey AC/DC (prefer Bon to Brian) Iron Maiden Queensryche Great White Yes The Who some Pink Floyd Queen Tesla Jimmy Buffett the pickers from the G3 tours (minus vai please - really not impressed w/ that one - all flash-no feeling) Guns N' Roses Kix (I freely admit to LOVING 80's hair metal!) Cat Stevens Karen Carpenter/The Carpenters Carly Simon Joni Mitchell Carole King Anne Murray Mary Chapin Carpenter Lakeside Maiden Steve Wariner Vince Gill Ricky Scaggs Chet Atkins Keith Urban Mel McDaniels John Anderson (not JON Anderson:-) Post 80's Music Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave some Alice in Chains Los Lonely Boys Goo Goo Dolls Tonic Lifehouse No Doubt I have to agree that 90-95% of the music produced in the last 10 years is streamlined for the most $$$ to be gained in the least amount of time. My bottom line is if the "vocalist" can't sing, (Brian Johnson, & a couple others are exempt from this rule 'cause the rest of the music makes up for it) and the rhythm section isn't tight, I'm outta there! Hey, I'm a musician, so my standards are pretty high. That's why RUSH is the best, they are the musician's Musicians.
