Dweezil
QUOTE (Slaine mac Roth @ Dec 15 2004, 11:22 AM) I am not in a good mood today because I've had to make an appointment to go to the dentist on Friday because my tooth is absolute agony. Thank god for Ambesol liquid which is managing to deaden it I find myself in a foul mood. Nothing wrong with my teeth though. I just happen to have extreme dislike for the world. I can't take this fake Christmas crap from people any longer. They don't mean any of the platitudes that spout from their mouth like sewage. Ill mannered little snots running rampant screaming at one another. Mentally challanged parents that stand around in a stupor. I think I'll take up drinking and buy that automatic I've been dreaming about.

So I'll keep my fingers crossed on Friday. Good Luck!
Chasartymac
Yuck. Toothache. The worst. Another good temporary reliever is clove oil. Tastes like crap but really numbs the gum around the tooth. I remember my dad came into the kitchen once and looked at the dinner my mum had just cooked. He said "Mmmm, looks great, I can't wait to get my teeth into that. At the moment, they're upstairs in a glass." And off he went to get them. Thank god for Ambesol liquid which is managing to deaden it I feel for ya Slain! I just had a soft tissue graft last month, where they cut a chunk of flesh off the roof of my mouth and grafted it into a hole in my gums. O...M...G...! Talk about pain! I don't medicate, not even asprin, because it never affects me, no matter what sive dose I try, so why bother..... well, I found out why bother... 'cause IT HURTS... BAD!!! Been medicated for weeks now! Nah, I'm off it already, after about a week, but it was the worst! Hopefully, it won't be anything like that for ya! Slaine mac Roth
Just gor back from the dentist (the cold air has played havoc with my jaw) and, as I suspected, I've got a whacking great abscess on my lower left jaw which has got to be gotten rid of before they can do anything else. So guess what? I've been put on a week's course of anti-biotics. Due to their nature, I'm not allowed to drink any alcohol during the course and for two days afterwards which means I can't have a drink on Xmas Eve, Xmas Day and Boxing Day http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/fists%20crying.gif http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/fists%20crying.gif http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/fists%20crying.gif I hearby call upon all members of the Rush Forum to have an extra drink or two for me in the run up to Xmas and to think of me while you're doing so. http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/trink38.gif http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/trink39.gif http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/signs015.gif http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/signs015.gif http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/signs015.gif http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/signs015.gif http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/signs015.gif http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/signs015.gif http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/signs015.gif

Slaine mac Roth
Well, while collecting my prescription at the pharmacy, I commented that not drinking over Xmas wouldn't kill to which he replied having one might. Pags
Sorry to hear of all the mouth trouble you're having, buddy. I hope it all goes well. I'll have that extra drink for you, also. http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif And if I can inject my advice about quitting -- I'll pass along the advice that was told to me before I quit, and it worked. It was this..... Don't quit on a holiday or event. It's too much pressure on yourself, and everybody is going to be watching you like a hawk to see if you'll make it or not. Holidays are for enjoying yourself.... so enjoy yourself. And don't pick a Monday, they are hard enough to get through as it is. So, when I quit I picked the Tuesday after the Super Bowl at the end of January. My last cigarette was that Tuesday morning walking from my car to the office building. I flicked out the cig, and never looked back. Done!! I know it will work differently for everybody, but I just focused on what that woman told me (during a smoke break) http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Best of luck to you, no matter what you choose. It's a good move. If all else fails.... look at your children and tell yourself you plan on being alive for their wedding days. That should help. http://www.therushforum.net/html/emoticons/wink.gif

circumstantial tree
I quit smoking last Christmas Eve. I did the good 'ol "cold turkey" method. I wasn't about to buy an expensive patch that may or may not have worked. It's hell to quit smoking, no doubt about it. You've got to accept the fact that you will be experiencing hell as you quit, no matter the quitting method. Do I still want a cigarette? On occasion I do want one, but I've learned to weather the cravings because they do pass. Once you find yourself in a routine not including a cigarette, it will be much easier. Changing your routine is the tough part.
