Why in the world did you leave? It'd take something like a natural disaster for me to have left that gig. It was the Wailers! Crystal Ballroom...very cool venue btw

tangy
I forgot to mention that mention that there are a few groups who are blending blue grass and reggae around here. I saw a group now defunct called Snake Oil Medicine Show that has a disc called Bluegrasstafari. Now they are CX-1, as in Cygnus X-1- no rush refernce there though to my knowledge. http://bluegrasstafari.com Opening for the pulse is Ras Alan, a white reggae artist from the mtns of tennessee. http://www.appalachianreggae.com Edited August 23, 2007 by tangdog

tangy
QUOTE (tangdog @ Jul 23 2007, 09:05 PM) Steel Pulse- Rally Round one my all time faves and what they opened up with tonight! Great show and decent setlist overall. I wish they had played a few more older songs, my highlights include handsworth revolution babylon makes the rules Your House Bodyguard Steppin'out rollerskates earth crisis The openers Ras Alan and The Lions were good but not exceptional. Suprisingly they played two songs of the bluegrasstafari disc I have, maybe Ras Alan was in on that recording. Not really blue grass as i was expecting some banjo. tangy
I saw Steel Pulse again last saturday out in Colorado. Half the band did not make it due to the volcano causing flight travels. We got a stripped down, guitar oriented, one time show. Good set list with the highlight being Even better the show was free!

ReRushed
QUOTE (tangy @ Feb 17 2012, 08:31 AM) ^^ not familiar with their music but listening to some now. open up the gate sounds good. The entire album is great. It's a Lee Scratch Perry production. Mr. Perry is a good starting point in discovering Reggae music. He's produced so many great albums. Heart of the Congos being my personal favorite. It's got so much going on.
