Voted 'Thick As A Brick', however 'Aqualung' is my fav album. Also, one of the very first albums I ever bought.

Saw Jethro Tull @ the old Hershey hockey arena during the 'Minstrel in the Gallery' tour (1975 or '76). I can still see Ian Anderson suddenly appearing out of the darkness in a bright white flash standing in a single spotlight on the stage wearing green leotards and sequin merkin while blowing beauty through his golden flute... as he then began to dance/jump/leap around like faerie with a band of merry musicians cajoling him. I was mesmerized for the next couple of hours...

That memory is forever etched in my mind...

Aqualung and Thick As A Brick share the top spot for me. Picked the former since it had less votes in the poll. After that, it's like this:

Minstrel in the Gallery

A Passion Play

Living in the Past

Benefit

Heavy Horses

Stand Up

Songs From The Wood

Heavy Horses, gotta be. wub.gif

Thick As A Brick is a close second. It used to be first, but Heavy Horses overtook it not long ago.

I picked Aqualung because out of the few Tull albums Ive heard alot and know the most, it rocks the most. I'm not a diehard fan and I've probably only heard less than half of their catalog (I only have a greatest hits of theirs). One of these days I'll get on a Jethro Tull kick and score me some of their early albums or maybe even the 80's stuff.

Benefit. Great songs, great playing. But it's a hard choice between that, Stand Up, Aqualung and Thick...

Wondered if anyone else would choose this one. I chose "Benefit."

and there is why I can't pick just one, those 4 are the best. If you have not heard Crest of a Knave you should.. Benefit is wonderful and very under rated album.

I see I mentioned Bursting Out in this thread already...

For studio albums I'd go with:

1 Thick as a Brick
2 Aqualung
3 Songs from the Wood
4 Minstrel in the Gallery
5 Heavy Horses
6 War Child

No, I've changed my mind...not Stormwatch

Ok I'll have to update this, while it's still a hot topic of the moment and I'm on a bit of Tull kick...And I just had a heavy listen to A Passion Play...

The TREEDUCK TULL SIX becomes the TREEDUCK TULL EIGHT!! ohmy.gif

1 Thick as a Brick

2 Aqualung

3 Songs From the Wood

4 A Passion Play

5 Benefit

6 Minstrel in the Gallery

7 War Child

8 Heavy Horses

First if all TULL rules! Im going with despite its popularity, Im going with Aqualung. Song for song i think its their best. Can listen to it full through without skipping anything. Also has a dark feel which I like as well.

Heavy Horses is my all-time favorite.

Finally! I thought I was the only one! laugh.gif trink39.gif

It's a very, very good album but not quite as celebrated as some of the earlier ones. One reason is because it comes at the end of an extremely potent run of quality.
