The Rush and the Rock and Roll hall of Fame debate

It's that same question. The 2007 Rock and Roll inductiees have been announced and once again Rush is out of the mix. Obviously if you are a poster on this forum you will undoubtably agree with me when I say Rush is a band deserving of this "honor". If you would like to get your voice heard and help Rush get into the HOF click the link below It will take you to the Power Windows page on the issue and from there take the link to sign the official Campaign to get Rush into the Hall of Fame petition.

But who cares if Rush gets into the Hall of Fame. Is it truly an "honor"? NO. The hall is run by a select few, whose "tastes" determine who get inducted. Not album sales, or Awards or even longjectivity. Rush just isn't in the tases of those "Select few". Those people have ties to those who run Rolling Stone magazine, and they have a less than favorable opinion of the Music of Rush.

With the way the Hall of Fame is run as of now, I say remember what The Sex Pistols said and did when inducted last year (Called the HOF a "Pi$$ stain" and refused to attend). Until the Hall is run by those who judge by Guidelines rather than "tastes", I don't care it wont make me any more or less of a Rush fan. And to those artists who are in the Hall I am not setting out to demeinalize your accomplishments, most of you are worthy of the Recognition the Hall "claims" to offer, just don't place your induction as the high point of your careers.

And YET....IF they got inducted next year, most here would be pretty happy about it.

So I think the truthful answer is that while it doesn't matter, it'd be nice.

Just being honest.

Very true...I think they should be in there, but if the hall is too stupid, then they can get bent. biggrin.gif

Also, IMO...the RRHOF knows that Rush fans want it bad.

I guarantee you that now, the HOF is just finding ways to keep leaving Rush out...mainly because it upsets everyone.

If Rush are ever asked to be inducted, I hope that they turn it down and tell them the type of sham that they are. I think it would really hurt the public view of the Hall...because they are being turned down by one of the greatest acts in rock history, and 3 of the most professional individuals to ever grace a stage.

Honestly, Rush doesn't need the HOF to tell them how great they are.

That's what we're for!! yes.gif

Very True IMO. Personally, I think it would be nice, but their absence from the RRHOF is of no matter to me - I'll always be a fan.

I know this has been discussed over and over beathorse.gif

But - I Learned something last night watching the RRHOF. The cofounder and main investor to the Museum was the founder of Atlantic records.....very interesting and possibly a conflict of interest. I am wondering what percentage of inductees are on the Atlantic label? Its a conspiracy man! ph34r.gif

I think the Hall should wake the heck up...especially after the horrible ceremony they had this year..the highlight band had two members who aren't actually in the band anymore show up, the ones who didn't....one was a baby, another a sheep and the last, the king himself was too messed up to even show.

Next year they would create massive excitment with 3 little bands at once RUSH, Genesis and Yes, now that would be amazing, but until(as it's been beaten to death) Jan Weiner (spelled like an Oscar Mayer on purpose) goes very far away and takes his little sheep with him, we will never have a great Induction class.

Think about who is out there from 25 years ago that will be going in over the next few years...aside from Rush, Kiss, Genesis, Kansas, Styx, and Yes, there aren't a whole lot out there worthy...I can't wait to see who they insult us with over the next few years....
