My top four are:

1) U2
2) Thin Lizzy
3) Van Morrison
4) Rory Gallagher

Doesn't matter if the Edge was born in England,
He's Irish thru and thru!

I think another good Irish band name would be Eire.

There used to be a band from Northern Ireland called Eire Apparent. Henry McCullough(Wings & Grease Band) was in it.

Jimi Hendrix produced their one and only album.

Oh..right on,never heard of that band.

Only 1 LP? Wow..Even Jimi couldn't bring out the magic, huh?

McCullough was a kick-ass lead player...

Too bad he couldn't kick the habit.

Too much white nose candy , unfortunately.

Waste of true talent. no.gif sad.gif

From this list...THIN LIZZY

However, I am shocked that The Cranberries were left off. They'd be up there on my list as well. 1022.gif

Lizzy equal again!!! Come on people, don't let U2 win!!!!

Tell me the legends of long ago

When the kings and queens

would dance in the realm of the Black Rose

Play me the melodies I want to know

So I can teach my children, oh

Only my vote for SLF - boo!

Saw them on Sunday and alright it's not the original line up, but there is a massive amount of energy in their show.

McCallum doesn't look too long for this world - really skinny and quite jaundiced. Hope I'm wrong because he's a canny songwriter and musician.

U2...but for the record, there material from the Joshua Tree to Actung Baby is hit or miss. Everything after Actung Baby is pure crap.

But their early work is nothing short of amazing.

Thin Lizzy, Thin Lizzy, Thin Lizzy!!!

Although Steve Grantley (Stiff Little Fingers) is an amazing drummer.

I only know them for Barbed Wire Love, had a Geordie friend that really liked them.

Oh, and go Lizzy, shit this is close! unsure.gif

I noticed that the Cranberries is not included in that list.

The OP is Irish, it's enshrined in our constitution that Irish nationals must never list them as an Irish band.

A travesty, yes, a lump of festering monkey shite, yes, but a band? Never.

A pox on their houses.

Actually, a check on ye olde Wikipedia shows that Lizzy and U2 have both released the same number of studio albums. 12 each.

It's just that U2 have released more singles.

No, it's just that I thought Counterparts sucked. That was the first time in all my years of buying new Rush that I felt compelled to listen to somebody else. Rush turned into a garage band.
