these pictures look just like norway, nice pics!

OK, here we go. I forgot to click the quote button.

These mountains look just like the ones in LOTR! Wow!

As a matter of fact, LOTR was filmed in the Queenstown area of NZ, which is where that picture was taken. We went jet boating down the Dart River and saw many of the places where they filmed.

Our tour guide told us that they were only allowed to film if when they left there was absolutely no trace of their presence. The area is a national park and NZ govt. wanted to make sure it wasn't damaged by the film crew.

Here's a few more pictures we took in NZ. First picture was taken out of a small tour plane. Amazing place.

Neat photos, everyone!

Here are a few non-flower photos from a backpacking trip in late-July:

Milestone Mountain, the pointy peak in the center:

There was a really beautiful little lake along the trail. I love the curvy shoreline:

This was probably the cutest Marmot I've ever seen:

An amazing sunset. That's Mt. Whitney on the left:

Mount Tyndall from Shepherd's Pass:

Friends Anita and Sally hiking towards Milestone Basin where we climbed Milestone Mountain (the pointy peak in the distance on the right):

OK, here's one I'm really proud of:

I shoot with a Pentax K100D. I have a 28-200 Tamron zoom lens. I took a photo class in college about 16 years ago. I can still smell the chemicals.

Boy, how times have changed. Since then, everything I've learned, especially as it relates to the digital age, has been trial and error.

I don't think these shots are particularly great but the places themselves are. So I thought I'd share them. These 2 were taken in a shrine in Kyoto (about 30 minutes from Osaka)...
