AnalogRich
Whats your favorite Geddy bassline? I would have to say "Digital Man" along with the middle section of "FreeWill" , the ending of "Red Barchetta" r30 style, the little solo in "Vital Signs". Midway Hawker
I really like the album version of Animate. Ged went back to the Fender for CounterParts and the Bass line in Animate is so "in your face".. It's like Ged was saying "My Fender is back! With a Vengenge!!!" I'd have a hard time picking a favorite (just like anything else Rush related) but that's the first thing I thought of.

Indica
Man, there's a lot of awesome ones to pick. But I will write the first bass line that pops in my head. The bassline he plays as "Territories" is fading out.
tepes22b
There's no picking a favorite for me, so perhaps I'll get it to one or two per album: 2112 (the Temples of Syrinx) - the chorus riff Xanadu - especially the "to stand within the pleasure dome" part and the little fill at the end that mirrors the guitar melody Cygnus X-1 - the intro riff...killer La Villa Strangiato - the riff that Alex does his rants over Freewill - bass solo Natural Science - the first riff in "Hyperspace" Limelight - the backing part for the guitar solo Vital Signs - the whole damn song, but especially the melody in the verses, the heavy chorus part, and the solo at the end Subdivisions - the "Subdivisions" parts and the fills in the solo Digital Man - the whole song Distant Early Warning - full of great riffs The Enemy Within - the main riff (verses) Big Money - the funky verse/chorus riff Mystic Rhythms - the verse riff that pops up later in the song Force Ten - the main riff Animate - the main riff Stick it Out - pretty much all of it Test for Echo - same as above Driven - the middle fill prior to the bridge, especially the RiR solo thing Earthshine - the strumming riff during the verses (as well as the heavy parts in the second halves of verse 2 and 3 on the live version) Ghost Rider - the main riff

CygnusX-1Bk2
I like most everything. I tend to favor the really obtuse, unrelated to Alex type stuff. That is the most interesting to me because it's atypical. But I also like regimented bass lines like Marathon. Also what I really like about what Geddy plays is slight and subtle variations over the course of a song, but I like that about all of their playing because they all pretty much do it. That is one of the coolest things about Rush.

Geds
Alien shore....just so.....alien sounding. Animate, Just rocks...animate to me is very fun to play. I like the verse parts to cold fire, very imaginative.... and my all time favorites to play and sing at the same time...Lakeside Park and Time stand still. Once you get into the groove of both of these, you just get lost in the performance. Great Question! Edited January 24, 2006 by Geds
