Ed Sheeran- ÷

I think opening track Eraser is gold, then the album turns really beige. I guess it's okay? Not sure I will ever understand the appeal of his albums. Even the singles I like fall flat amongst the swamp of meh

But I love Eraser.

Ed Sheeran- ÷

Segue made me plays this.  I know sheeran is a punchline these days.  is this groundbreaking pop?  no. it's quite by the numbers.  but i really enjoy him all the same.  I LOVE his songwriting basic as it is.  it makes me feel strangely at ease and stress free.

So he's writing basic pop?  no blazing solos or flashy chord changes but who really cares?  i enjoy it and will continue too.

No less valid than those who fairly find it boring.

I played it again last night, and I like it.

However I hate his lyrics.

They go something like this

"My friend went to tesco, bought eggs, bacon bread though, made himself a sandwich, can't believe the bandwidth, of his melancholy state, he wished he had pizza"

Like my god it's all drivel

Lacuna Coil- Delirium

Lacuna Coil- Black Anima

Lacuna Coil- Never Dawn (single)

I enjoyed all these. Never Dawn still feels way too standard an LC song at this point, but I liked it.

Are they still my favourite band? Actually, very likely.

They are surreal and inventive.

Ed aims for relateable realism which makes it soooo cringey.

Still, some good production flourishes and killer hooks abound. I like this album well enough!

So far today ..

* White Lion - Mane Attraction ‘91 (10/10)️ for me their best album

* FM - Indiscreet ‘ 86 (10/10)

   🤔 Not sure if they are known in USA/Canada or rest of Europe ?
 Great UK AOR/Melodic Hard Rock band 👍

 They really should have been much bigger than they were … I’ve saw them live a few times in the late 80’s/early-mid 90s and they were brilliant every time 😎

Never heard of them here in the USA but they sound like  they would be my kind of music.  Thanks for the recommendation - will have to check them out.

and White Lion - good band.  Saw them back in the day with Vixen and Ozzy.  All 3 bands were very enjoyable.

Yesterday ..

* Ozzy - The Ultimate Sin ‘86 (8/10)

    🤔 probably my least rated Ozzy LP
* Journey - Arrival, 2000 (9/10)

    It’s a pity it didn’t work out for Augeri

Agreed about Augeri - I think he played the local fair a year or 2 back.

The Ultimate Sin is an album I will listen to every song on.  They are all good but nothing is great.  But I never skip a song.  That being said, IMO its the weakest of the 2 Jake E. Lee albums.
