On his first start in the NASCAR cup series a New Zealander by the name of Shane van Gisbergen won the race. That race was cool to see! The driving on the last few laps was aces (when drivers weren't running into the tires ) My mom had us laughing because she was raised near Chicago although she hasn't been there for about 40 years. She looked up for like a nanosecond and said, "Oh, racing on Michigan Avenue now?" How she recognized it, I don't know! 1

There WAS a sign that a camera on the broadcast that kept showing up that said N. Michigan Ave. 100... 1

pjbear05 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Ryan Preece does a 10-11 X barrel roll at Daytona, climbs out of car afterwards. Damn, that was fupped duck.

It seemed like at least twice the car actually bounced/flew higher than the trajectory was taking it. That was wild and I hope he's okay.

I sort of envisioned it as an athletic move from a gymnast or Olympic diver- Definitely a 10 from the East German judge. 1
KenJennings Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 (edited) Sad to hear the SRX series is suspending operations for 2024. I just bought tickets to the Cedar Lake race in August, so I'm really disappointed to miss out on it. In recent years I've found more excitement from that format than from NASCAR... I guess that kind of old school racing is doomed. Edited January 11, 2024 by KenJennings
edhunter Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 Watching a bit of the Bristol race today. The crowd size is stunning. When I was there for the spring race and 2007 it was sold out and there was a lottery for tickets. I don’t think it’s 50% full now. How the sport manages to stay afloat is beyond me. 1
laughedatbytime Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 This isn't good... Former NASCAR champion Kurt Busch was arrested earlier this week for DWI, according to the Iredell Free News. He is also facing charges of careless and reckless driving, as well as speeding. https://www.on3.com/pro/news/kurt-busch-arrested-dwi-reckless-driving-charges/?cx_testId=2&cx_testVariant=cx_1&cx_artPos=0&cx_experienceId=EXGW27M4UI2N&cx_experienceActionId=showRecommendationsVK2O17PSP0I042#cxrecs_s
laughedatbytime Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 (edited) No comments yet on the Austin Dillon bumper car win last week or the penalty keeping him out of the playoffs? They pretty much had to do what they did. It is interesting that one of the more popular drivers/teams got the win and two of the least liked drivers got knocked out of the way (Logano and Hamlin). I think the public reaction would have been unanimous had it gone the other way instead of just mostly in favor of the penalties. Edited August 15, 2024 by laughedatbytime

Yep, pretty much, Dillon bum rushed both of them, let him claw his way back up. I'm pretty neutral towards Hamlin but yeah , definitely not a fan of Logano.
BastillePark Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Dale Earnhardt would punch somebody's lights out if he saw that sacrilege.
BastillePark Posted June 29 Posted June 29 I was curious to know what viewership is like since they are on Prime Video for a few races and I read that compared to last year with the same four races, it's down more than 17%. But when you're a multibillionaire, it won't change your lifestyle one iota if a few advertisers drop off.
