goose
the fact Presto has any votes baffles meBecause it doesn't have songs about dragons or rocket ships?at least it's better than talking about painting a mirror black or rock paper scissorsI like the idea of painting the mirror black as a pushback against how society pressures us to judge ourselves. As for rock paper scissors, I don't like it as a song, but I do like the imagery used in the album art to represent the three members playing their instruments.

I like the imagery because it's a comment on appearances, and putting up a façade. The album narrative is about concealment, artifice and underlying troubles. Paper beats rock because it HIDES the rock. I don't know, maybe that's silly, but I dig it.

In their respective lyrics, Presto stacks up very well against AFTK as an album.

goose
AFTK turns me off at the first notes Alex plays. I find his classical guitar intro pretty pedestrian composition-wise and lacking in expression on the technical side, compared to this lady's approach, for instance... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_GW8XnEyY0
zepphead
Presto has actually got a vote. Its a funny old world! That was me. I love Xanadu. That's it. I enjoy Presto much more. Maybe because it was my first Rush studio release (after I became a fan, purchasing ASOF) Available Light, Hand Over Fist, Show Me Don't Tell Me, The Pass - it's much more consistent record, though of course it doesn't have Cygnus or Xanadu ---But Presto also doen't include songs as cringe-worthy as Cinderella Man or Madrigal. I think my drumming sensibilities have something to do with it. I just like the way NP plays on Presto - and I love that Copeland-inspired drum sound. On AFTK, the toms sound muted and dull, and snare doesn't have that CRACK that I love on Presto. Of course I can't ignore how groundbreaking AFTK is, but it's Rush's Topographic Oceans Tormato to me. Great ideas that don't always cohere...First purchases of a band's material will always make that album special to the individual ..... in my case I got Caress Of Steel and probably love it more than it deserves .... and in your case Presto.

Derek19
I wasn't going to pick, and choose any particular one because I've liked them the same, and they've been uniquely different in each of their ways.

JohnnyBlaze
A Farewell to Kingshttp://www-eluniverso-com.cdn.ampproject.org/i/s/www.eluniverso.com/sites/default/files/styles/nota_ampliada_normal_foto/public/fotos/2020/06/retorno-de-captain-america-al-mcu.jpg?itok=nNcQvqRF VS. Prestohttp://images.static-bluray.com/reviews/7875_1_large.jpgIndeed! Overwraught and comically corny vs. A more mature and understated approach. :P :P On a side trivia note, the “Presto” Captain America is J.D. Salinger’s kid, Matt. Has nothing to do with anything other than me just remembering that now.
