I'm a big fan of all the Halford-era albums.I love all six albums from the 1980s. The first time I heard it I was just in shock. Shock? Don't think I have ever heard someone describe hearing a riff that way before. It's like this. After listening to enough pentatonic blues based riffs in my life, there are certain phrases I expect to hear. If a phrase starts off like one I'm familiar with, I subconsciously think I know how it's going to go before it's finished. When I first heard Firepower, I had that experience up until the chromatic bit, which took me totally off guard, then it just kept repeating and never came back down to where I thought it would land when the track started. I was in shock, very happy shock!

grep
British Steel Screaming For Vengeance Firepower Point of Entry TurboI'm a big fan of Turbo and Point of Entry, even though I have them lower on my list. I'm a big fan of all the Halford-era albums. I love them both as well - not so much as 'Priest' records. But as good, almost prog records. Frankly, I think that Turbo is what Point Of Entry would have sounded like if the band had the guitar synths back then. Segue Myles
Played Firepower today. It is wonderful! I'm a bit meh to a lot of their recent albums, hence why I've overlooked it. Well...I shouldn't have

Good album, but not even in the same league with Painkiller. To me Painkiller seems a bit too much of a reaction to criticism of Turbo and Ram it Down and other stuff (let's show those thrash metal bands), a try-hard album, a little bit forced and by numbers. I still like it though.

Maybe not Rust In Peace, but it holds its own against Persistence Of Time, Seasons In The Abyss, and ...And Justice For All.
