By the way, I read Eddie's cancer treatments haven't gone too well.

When rockers like him start going, I'll be devastated.

 

Neil is gone. My favorite drummer and mentor.

Eddie Van Halen. My favorite guitar player of all time. "The cells tick away." I am preparing myself from now on.

 

As far as reality, my parents are on lockdown Lorraine. I am dropping off my dad's paycheck, food, rations and wine.

 

It's my top priority in life obviously.

 

The Rush Forum will keep me from getting Cabin Fever I think.

I just had a thought. Eddie Van Halen's guitar playing and style was coined as having a 'brown sound'.

 

He admitted that that phrase coined is because of Alex Van Halen's drum sound, not the guitar.

 

Whereas the band wouldn't allow brown M&M's in the candy dish as part of rider requirements.

Both killer songs, but I'm going with Unchained. Partly because it has a better main riff and partly because Aint Talkin Bout Love is overplayed on the radio (if Roth-era VH can be overplayed).

In 1978, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love was like a shotgun blast to the face. Never heard anything like it. The sheer power.

Unchained is great and all, but Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love is so legendary Eddie didn't even need to add a solo. (iirc)

 

Not much of a solo, just the little sitar/guitar melody.

 

Ain't Talkin' is a VH classic for sure, but it's a little too simple and repetitive. Unchained is just a better crafted and more aggressive song to my ears.

 

One of the greatest songs ever made on my favorite Van Halen record ever made: "FAIR WARNING!"

FW is my favorite VH album but ATAL is my favorite on their debut.
