To each their own. But I find it impossible to enjoy a band no matter how much spirit they have if I'm making a pained cringe face at the vocals lol

Just curious how much were tickets?

I saw them in Huntington, LI. I paid $40 each, but that was for front row balcony, geddy side.

Isn't that a lot for a cover band? I honestly don't know but it seems like it to me.

It is for me, but that's pretty much the going rate for most tribute bands these days. Guess that's why I never go to see them. (Unless it's Rush of course.)

I suppose if I ever found a Marillion or Kevin Gilbert tribute, I might check them out too following some research.

It's cool that tribute bands exist. And it's a helluva tall order to be a Rush tribute band so my hat's off to those that can do it well.

I caught a few YouTube vids of Mystic Rhythms doing their thing and they do it respectably.

Here's another Rush tribute band that does it well IMHO:

Mightily impressed with Lotus Land as well. How many Geddy lookalikes ,bald or with wigs, are running around with tight trousers? Also both bands have adapted certain mannerisms. For example the drummers look serious, studious and grumpy.

A FB group I'm in just had a group meet up at a Lotus Land concert in South Carolina a few weeks ago. LL got rave reviews!! I was wishing SC was closer.

I think only about 10 hrs. I had actually just joined the group earlier this month shortly after the meet up. Excuses, excuses. It looked like a fun time!

$10 is a totally different story.

For $40, a cover/tribute has got to totally get the spirit and vibe of what they are playing for me to see them and even then Marillion or Emerson Lake and Palmer tribute band would have to drop out of the sky for me to even consider it.

I wouldnt be going on and on as much if they didn't do just that. Trust me, these guys are definitely worth seeing.

I'd rather see 4 different cover bands over 4 gigs in GA for $40 than 1 cover band with reserved seating for that same price.

Your loss.

It's not a loss if the bottom line is that I don't care too much about cover bands. I can still respect their efforts.

Besides, how is preferring to go to four concerts instead of one a loss? Explain that.

Depends on the band.

Impressive. Not an easy task.

I would probably never go see them though......maybe, but probably not.

I have seen Brit Floyd and Australian Floyd both were incredible. Close your eyes and you would not know the difference.

Rush though? Extremely tough. And the main reason is just how unique all three of them were. And the vocals.....no one is Geddy.

I think the vocals is the hardest part to get past here with them.

Impossible to duplicate.

However. They do a heck of job musically and all the wigs, cloths and looks.....really nice job.

In the 90's and early 2000's there was a Rush tribute band in the Chicago area called Animation (which pre-dated the song Animate). They did not try to be a match for Rush, particularly in the vocals, but instead gave their energy to the songs. I actually appreciated that tribute band, as opposed to another (whose name I don't remember) who was sounded more faithful to Rush but didn't quite capture the emotion of their songs. Also, Animation covered a great variety of their material, whereas the other band pretty much focused on the 2112-Signals era.

Get the Led Out was $25 in Philly and they were amazing. They needed about 8 people, though, to get the sound.
