Rush is dead... is the Rush forum dead as well?

Another thing that's been bothering me. RUSH is NOT DEAD. They've only toned down the touring bit in order for their respective physiologies to 'rest up' a little. Alex's arthritis, Neil's complete and tiring devotion to excellence on the drums, Geddy's fingers needing flesh on them in order to perform. I'm amazed they've been able to be so PERFECT for so long....Rolling Stones play their type of music excellently, but it is in NO WAY as demanding as Progressive Rock. I respect him in his own right, but I think Charlie Watts would be dead by now if he drummed [like Neil has] since his youth in the early sixties. I think Neil mentioned Charlie and his drumming style in the latest Documentary. (I have to watch that a few more times)

But DEAD? I don't THINK so......

ORFie, what do you mean by "Geddy's fingers needing flesh on them in order to perform"?

If I remember correctly, Neil made a reference to Charlie Watts in the R40 documentary. Something to the effect that if his Rush drum parts were as unchallenging as the ones Charlie plays, he could keep going on.

Exactly. And toned down the touring? Have you even seen the documentary?

Yup! That's the part I was partially remembering! A guy that works at that Coney Island I go to all the time liked my RUSH A Farewell To Kings T-shirt, and we started talking about the documantary, and he reminded me of Neil's Bursitis in his shoulders also.....

Yes, but I've only watched it one time, and some things don't stick that well in my brain. I'll watch it a few times this weekend if we get the snow we're supposed to tonight, I'll have a few days to soak it in!

I'm a bit surprised since it was like the main theme of the whole documentary. Their touring days are over.

I UNDERSTAND that, but he didn't say they wouldn't make single appearances in the future/special occasions.

You mean like a Tony Bennett act? I seriously doubt it. Anything is possible but I guess I'm OK with them being retired. I would rather them go out on a high note than hang around and go downhill.

You shouldn't have to explain yourself. But that's just my opinion.

I guess 'going out on top' is preferable by a lot of people, but as far as my perceptions determined, not all of them just out and out 'hung up the smock'. Especially Geddy.

I've heard him complain about how their gruelling schedules [touring] takes it's toll on his fingers while playing bass....

Well it's not dead but it is different. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I'm sure some smart ass will let me know though.

You just like starting arguments. Can't you just liven up a little? Are you going through a rough patch? Do you really want to keep on returning here just so you can find something to moan about?

What. Is. Your. Deal?
