  1. I was not aware of this when I donned my MP tee this morning. Extra shibby now!
  2. My pristine, flawless copy of Rush FAQ just arrived ! Huzzah!
  3. Among the five I own: Gretchen Goes to Nebraska Out of the Silent Planet Faith Hope Love s/t Dogman
  4. Groovy. Just ordered CuP too.
  5. Because of this thread, I just ordered Max Mobley's Rush FAQ. Huzzah!
  6. My take is: yes, they did...but Pratt's addition helped Dirk and Lerxst realize the fullness of their potential in that particular band environment.
  7. To what are you referring? I'm not tired of the Marvel films at all. They've done a masterful job with the universe. If they can keep it up, it will be one of the best movie series of all time I wont slate superhero films, but i miss the high quality dramas of the nineties. Hollywood is creating either epic blockbusters, or sweary, inpenetrable dramas. Films like LA Confidential, The Talented Mr Ripley, Schindler's List and even Titanic were big Hollwood films that were also immensely watchable and, dare i say it, artistically rewarding. No dramas of recent years have leftany sort of impact close to any one of these did on me. Any suggestions? Let me know. But these big superhero movies are getting on my nerves, the superhero film is the modern western, you see one, you very likely have seen them all. Main exception for me was the wonderful Man of Steel, and i really love the first two Spiderman films with Tobey Maguire. Boo-hoo. Some of us comic book nerds have been into this stuff for four-plus decades, and are seeing our shared vision come to full fruition. If it offends you, don't watch it, then passively-aggressively bitch about it on a message board. End rant.
  8. I own that fourth one. Iconic!
  9. Mine should be here in a matter of hours. Which is all right...been one busy day, and I need a chance to catch my breath.
  10. I think the debuts weakest point is the production value unfortunately :| Definitely could use a re-recording/remaster, but I'm not so sure that's their style. They did re-do Goldilox on their album Ogre Tones, but Dug's change in vocal range didn't serve well for that. All three of them, when looking back at it in retrospect, said rerecording that song was a mistake. What is the issue with the production? It sounds perfect to me! And Goldilox is one of my favourite songs from this band. It's been nearly a year since I discovered these legends! I find the instrumentals to be lower in the mix compared to the vocals, and the guitar tone, while it's nice, should have more crunch to it. The bass is heavy, but the guitar sounds like a feather with some salt sprinkled on it... It should sound like a shaker full of salt ;) . Great songs, I just could never get past the production enough to enjoy them in excess. Maybe I'll just turn up the volume louder or something next time. My favorites from the album (in order of appearance) are: In the New Age, Goldilox, King, Shot of Love (From the Mountain to the Sea ♫), and Visions. http://youtu.be/f19FQfzly50 Thanks for sharing The "King" video. I'd never seen it before. "Summerland," yeah...but never King.
  11. Those memes are somewhat lamesauce...but they can lighten a mood or brighten your day.
  12. I went through all my GP music (roughly 20K songs) and couldn't find a single clunker of a cover. It goes without saying that, since I'm a Rush fan, I have preeminent taste in music. :)
  13. I didn't take it that way. He's almost singing in Geddy's register. I've heard many worse covers.
  14. While I enjoy the genius behind The Wall and Dark Side, I find PF's stuff way too dark and cynical. APP, while exploring dark material, retains an optimistic edge to their lyrics and music. So they get my vote.
  15. Nice to know that the Rushian legacy will go on after these fetid waves of untalented, mediocre acts have withered and blown away into the dust bin of eternity.
  16. A little here, a little there. More of an influence than "indoctrination," I guess. Mom loved Elvis, and I like him in small doses. Dad's into Willie's Roadhouse stuff on Sirius FM.
  17. The Geddy sledding video. Hilarious!
  18. They're up there. Been getting big into Yes lately, so that could change.
  19. Geddy as the bassist. Wow. The closest approximation to CS's gifts.
  20. Out of the Silent Planet...another fan thereof! Gretchen Goes to Nebraska likewise rules. Great list, dude!
  21. Mystery Science Theater 3000: Girls Town, The Brain That Wouldn't Die
  22. C'mon. Let's refrain from the petulant arguments from ignorance and appeals to ridicule. Don't lump all of us theists together (if even the OP is one).
  23. Sometimes it's best to be thought a douchebag, then to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.
