  1. QUOTE (Perchance to Dream @ Nov 12 2011, 07:44 PM) Synth era, I'd go with Mission. So much emotion spilling out of those notes that it borders on ridiculous. True 'dat.
  2. QUOTE (D3strukt @ Nov 12 2011, 10:42 PM) QUOTE (MCM @ Nov 12 2011, 10:00 PM) Speaking of two discs, is anyone else annoyed the break between the two discs is right in the middle of the MP set? Takes away from the experience of the whole album in sequence. I'm guessing there was no way around it, but it irritates me. Oh my god. Limelight closes out Side ONE of MP. The Camera Eye. Opener of SIDE TWO of MP. It makes perfect sense. Ahhh, you must have been reading my mind as I was typing my other post, I was wondering if it was at the same time as when you had to turn the album over.
  3. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Nov 12 2011, 10:27 PM) QUOTE (MCM @ Nov 12 2011, 10:00 PM) Speaking of two discs, is anyone else annoyed the break between the two discs is right in the middle of the MP set? Takes away from the experience of the whole album in sequence. I'm guessing there was no way around it, but it irritates me. They've done that with all the live releases since RIR I believe. It's a little annoying but if you have an iPOD you can re-do the track numbers and make the set go the right way. I just label everything from Tom Sawyer through Working Man as being on disc two and you get to hear MP all the way through without interruption. I know, on the iPod it's all in order in one place, (except for the drum solo, but I fixed that) but not in the car if I want to listen to the disc instead of using the iPod jack. Seems to defeat the purpose of playing the whole album in it's original sequence. Is the break even at the same place where you would normally turn the album over? Didn't even think about that. I guess it's a good thing tho cause this seems to be my only problem with the album and it really doesn't matter, just being cranky.
  4. QUOTE (treeduck @ Nov 11 2011, 05:21 PM) It would have been better if Ozzy had died instead of Dio and then Heaven and Hell could continue. And it would have been lovely if Sharon had died instead of Randy Rhoads, then we could have had some more great Ozzy albums up till his death in 2009 and no one would miss Sharon except Ozzy but we all know he's doomed anyway now don't we? Just give him some drugs and make sure he makes them albums with Randy... Interesting alternate reality you got going there. The draw on this is Iommi for me, not so interested in seeing Ozzy stumble around onstage, but I'd love to see the rest of this band play together.
  5. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Nov 12 2011, 01:30 AM) If I had to pick one of these dinosaur "metal" bands I just wouldn't do that in 2011. Oh no, here we go, Zep is not metal...
  6. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Nov 12 2011, 08:14 PM) QUOTE (MCM @ Nov 11 2011, 07:30 PM) QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Nov 10 2011, 09:06 PM) QUOTE (MCM @ Nov 10 2011, 08:43 PM) Styx - Regeneration This has to be the dumbest thing they put out. I like the current lineup but they shouldn't be rerecording old hits. Its almost like they're trying to erase their past. However Lorelei does sound cool with JY singing. You are not far off the mark, but I do love what Lawrence Gowan did with Queen of Spades and I was on a buying spree. I'd be a lot happier if they'd get off the road for awhile and record some new music. Cyclorama is one of my favorite Styx albums so I'd be happy if they took some time to record but I doubt it would sell well. They probably figure it wouldn't be worth it since only a small group of hardcore fans would buy it. Cyclorama is middle of the pack for me as far as Styx albums are concerned, strangely tho it seems to be improving with age. It's a solid album. Correct, there is no money in new music for them, their dollars are in touring and their fan base is quite splintered, not even all of the hardcore Styx fans of old would buy new music with this lineup.

  8. QUOTE (Kelly D @ Nov 12 2011, 09:34 PM) QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Nov 12 2011, 08:20 PM) QUOTE (grand phil-nale @ Nov 12 2011, 12:39 AM) Taking Alex's vocals out of the mix and continuously showing shots of him singing is bad editing. yeah, I've always hated that. Alex pretending to sing over a backing track....lame. I think it's cute. Can he really not sing that well?! Hey Kelly! He's not so good. (Not that I can throw stones at someone trying to sing) Every once in awhile you can here him. Best example I can think of is the youtube videos from that SARStock (or whatever they called it) show they did in Toronto years back. Just adds to his charm if you ask me. I did think at the beginning of this tour that I did hear him in a youtube here and there and he seems to sound better, maybe he's had some lesson.

  12. It was dastardly hard to get the DVD out of the case. Thought it was just me.
  13. QUOTE (Phantom @ Nov 9 2011, 06:00 AM) Thank goodness for HMV. Picked up the DVD there, ( both blu ray and regular dvd's in stock ). Interestingly, they've had them in stock, and selling, since October ! Happy to hear you got your hands on a copy, I was about ready to offer my extra copy via overnight mail.
  14. QUOTE (presto123 @ Nov 9 2011, 08:23 PM) After watching the Time Machine blu-ray the main thing that stuck out to me is how on top of their game the guys are playing wise. Who lit a fire under these guys compared to just a few years ago? No comparison. I didn't know who to watch more out of the three because they were all tearing it up. It is the PERFORMANCE and the energy that makes this release so special and I think that really bodes well for the new record. Seems like they may be going back somewhat to that aggressive, progressive mode and if they can capture a lot of the energy and chops they showed on this tour this could be a special record. I thought BU2B and Caravan were two of the best songs from Time Machine Live. SnA is a good record but the main thing it lacked seemed to be energy. 2012 can't come soon enough! Interesting observation and I agree. I think there is more energy in Caravan and BU2B than in all of S&A. I liked S&A because it has substance in it's lyrics, but it looks like this new one is going to be something special. Please boys, don't disappoint us!!
  15. QUOTE (ReGorLaTroy @ Nov 9 2011, 05:59 PM) Greetings, check your artists on your Itunes, the song, when the TM CD is ripped to Itunes comes up under the artist, "Rush with Love For Sale". Yup, noticed this when I ripped it last night, listening to it at work today and thought "where's the drum solo" forgot it came up differently, kind of sucks cause now you have to make it a playlist to get it to be in the right place. No artwork for me either. Have to add it which I hate!!!
  16. Dear OP: Gather your thoughts and make one post, it will be easier on the rest of us if all of the Geddy bashing is in one place. Sorry - couldn't help myself.
  17. My Best Buy (Pennsylvania) had about 20 copies of the CD and only two of the DVD, they were at the end of a row on the bottom shelf, not even in the new release section. I found them just before I had to do the dreaded asking of the clueless employee. I did hear that some Canadians got their copies of the DVD at Walmart.
  18. QUOTE (In A Tidewater Surge @ May 3 2011, 10:38 PM) QUOTE (Xanadude69 @ May 3 2011, 08:10 PM) Elton John Duran Duran Astroid Galaxy Tour What's wrong with Elton John? Or Duran Duran?
  19. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Nov 5 2011, 04:25 PM) Got the second one. Good stuff isn't it. I like the second one better than the first one. First one is good, but the second one is superior in my book. Listening to that album is like getting slapped in the face by 1974.
  20. QUOTE (treeduck @ Nov 5 2011, 06:06 PM) QUOTE (sullysue @ Nov 5 2011, 06:04 PM) 60s. '67 to be exact. "The year of Sgt. Pepper's and Are You Experienced..." Same as me Me too, must have been a good year. Funny thing, that's the song that turned me on to PT. Also, Piper at the Gates of Dawn was released that year too, (I think)
  21. QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Nov 4 2011, 06:38 PM) http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f153/kenneth71/Rush/Rush9794_tbn.jpg That shot is just about perfect.
  22. QUOTE (happenstance @ Oct 2 2011, 06:19 AM) Speaking of men with beautiful hair ... ... A few years back we went to a Foreigner concert where Mick Jones had to be replaced for the night by Whitesnake guitar player Doug Aldrich. Basically I think this meant that no original members from Foreigner were in the band that night ...? Doug Aldrich was a treat though And is it just me or does their current lead singer remind anyone of Steven Tyler? Kelly Hansen does bear resemblance to Steven Tyler, I think Kelly is a great performer, I like him a lot. Mick has been ill most of their summer tour, one of the guys from Night Ranger has been filling in for him on the tour with Journey and Night Ranger. Yes, that does mean that not one original member of Foreigner has been on stage for most of the summer shows. Pretty good cover band tho.
  23. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Oct 31 2011, 09:50 PM) Everyday. Hate water in my ears after showering Yup, get em cleaned out right after the shower, part of the morning routine.
