  1. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Oct 1 2012, 03:51 PM) QUOTE (Unattractive Truth @ Sep 30 2012, 06:59 PM) As both a die-hard Rush fan, and a Passat owner, I have been that guy about 1000 times... Do you even do the air stick toss? I have NEVER done that I have to admit, I tried today on the way home while listening to "Caress of Steel".
  2. QUOTE (CygnusGal @ Oct 1 2012, 03:49 PM) I mentioned the commercial at a meeting this morning and the entire room turned to look at me and said they all thought of me when they saw it. I think I've made an impression. Obviously, I'm doing something right! Everyone in my life hears Rush and thinks of me. And, I'm not alone, I'm sure it happens to most of you too. Same thing happened to me today at work. Two of my coworkers brought it up. Pretty funny.
  3. I voted for "Working Man", that song just "needs" to be in every setlist in my opinion.
  4. QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Sep 29 2012, 10:51 AM) QUOTE (CygnusGal @ Sep 18 2012, 05:38 PM) I like Neil's take on it. Neil said he loved Keith Moon, but would never have dreamed of meeting him. It was his lame attempt at using reverse psychology on his fans. You can bet Neil would've licked Keith Moon's personal drumsticks clean back in his "starving artist" days. I believe Neil said, "OK, I was the biggest Who fan as a kid. I never dreamed of trying to find their hotel and knocking on their door or interfering in their lives in any way, I don't understand it." This being said, I find it hard to believe that if given the chance of a proper and pre-arranged meeting with Keith Moon, that Neil wouldn't have relished the opportunity. He would have been a musician with the opportunity to meet one of his musical influences after all. In regards to meeting Neil, Geddy Lee said, "It's not a personal thing, it's a shyness thing." He's made his feeling on the subject quite clear and I respect that and appreciate his art all the same. ~Cheers, RGLT PS, with respect to GeminiRising79... I don't beleive that GeminiRising79 is a troll or even comes here to pick fights, draw attention or annoy people. GeminiRising79, is just another Rush fan with a opinion that differs from mine who states it on a public forum just as I do. It is not fair (or nice) to speak so negatively and hatefully about this person for doing so. We are all Rush fans enjoying the same music and freedom to speak about it.
  5. QUOTE (Eric2112 @ Sep 28 2012, 04:52 PM) Neil Peart, while not necessarily a meet and greet type, is actually rather nice in person, assuming you don't go all spaz on him. He's just a guy that happens to play drums, seriously, that's all he see himself as. I believe he's more interested in the fact that you've read his books then the fact that he's a world class drummer. E This sounds reasonable.
  6. QUOTE (goose @ Sep 29 2012, 05:20 PM) Somehow, in some way, all RUSH geeks of the world are slightly cooler because of this commercial. Still dosn't mean we'll be getting the chicks, though. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!!
  7. QUOTE (Jake2112 @ Sep 25 2012, 11:41 PM) Gotta love the air stick flip That was the best moment right there!
  8. QUOTE (default236 @ Sep 17 2012, 12:21 PM) No. It's biodegradable. Animals benefit from it so chuck away!! Exactly!
  9. Very nice, thanks, as always, for sharing! Also, pass along my warmest regards to PetieLee...how is her abck doing these days, fully recovered I hope.
  10. QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Sep 29 2012, 05:45 AM) I used to work in a rather large mental health facility where all the residents/clients had been previously homeless. I'm 100% sure that NONE of them wanted to be homeless. How do I know? Well, because all of them stayed at the facility for as long as they possibly could [there were some politics behind how long they could stay]. Anyway, since the facility didn't have any lockdown rules (for longer-term residents anyway) they could've walked out and been homeless again if they wanted...but they NEVER did. And I'll never believe that most of those that are homeless want to be. Sure, there must be some that actually want to be homeless but that percentage must be rather low. I don't know...people will f**k you over in any walk of life. But that shouldn't stop you from trying to do some good. And I think the op did some good (even if he thinks he could've done more). I've been there... ...as the cool fall days come along each year and the nights start getting colder I am reminded just how fortunate and blessed I am. A pastor let me sleep in the last pew of the church at night as long as I was out by morning before anyone got there in the morning. I guess that is why this thread hit home.
  11. I think you did exactly what you felt led to do at the time and I commend you for doing so. You have no idea what kind of impact your act of kindness may have had on that person. Keep up the good work...it is good that we have kind people like you in the world!
  12. "Grace Under Pressure" ...I just love the implication this title has to every day life. I had a hard time not voting for "A Farewell to Kings", mainly because it is my favourite album.
  13. QUOTE (sullysue @ Sep 26 2012, 10:49 AM) I remember watching the Andy Williams Christmas Specials that were re-run every year. How sad! Same here... ...a Christmas time tradition growing up. Rest in Peace Andy.
  14. I picked up the new Green Day on Tuesday and can't stop listening to it. Gone are all the political ramblings and in their place is straight forward rock and roll. Sounds like earlier Green Day ("Dookie" era)... ...nothing earth shattering or ground-breaking, just some fun music. Good enough to have me looking forward to the next of the three releases. "Uno" 25 September "Dos" 13 November "Tre" 15 January http://wac.450f.edgecastcdn.net/80450F/loudwire.com/files/2012/09/Green-Day-Uno.jpg
  15. QUOTE (snowdogged @ Sep 23 2012, 07:56 PM) QUOTE (ReGorLaTroy @ Sep 15 2012, 03:22 PM) I was at a store and a young lady behind the counter said, "Dude, I love your Rush shirt!" I was wearing the "Test For Echo" shirt with the wolf on the front. I took it off right there and gave it to her. Note: I was wearing a long sleeved shirt under it at the time. Dude, I like your money! Oh great... ...where shall I send the check?
  16. Just keeps getting better and better...many thanks John!
  17. Hope you are feeling better. Thoughts and prayers being sent your way! ~RGLT
  18. Blew my knee out about two years ago. Had a pretty good surgery to repair it. Gained a little weight, which has proved difficult to lose. About halfway back to my fighting weight. I can't complain, because it was recommended that I walk with a cane. My surgeon asked during one of my follow up visits, "Where's your cane?" I replied, "Chicks don't really dig canes, do they?" He said, "But, you are a married man." I replied, "To a chick". He said, "Good comeback, keep up the good work and we'll see you in six months." I just hiked three hours the other day, with my "chick", and most certainly didn't use a cane! Of course, watching me try to get out of bed the next day would have made a great YouTube video.
  19. QUOTE (greyfriar @ Jul 24 2012, 01:59 AM) Nice find. I'm sure you'll find the right place for it, if not I'll send you my post address. Ha ha ha... ...you beat me to my post! If you'd rather send it within the United States, let me know!
  20. For no apparent reason, my co-workers gave me this numbered, very high quality, small poster size print... http://www.yellowkorner.com/Visuels/Article/578x405/928.jpg ...I still can't figure out why. They know that I love "The Man in Black", but I was surprised speechless. Talk about a random act of kindness! I did finally muster up a whole bunch of "thank you's".
  21. QUOTE (Digitallware @ Sep 23 2012, 02:26 PM) well I finally purchased my ticket, it is in the 114 row 6 seat 10, $120 total. I just couldn't afford the $200 seats and anything lower than $100 is just too far for me. I asked so many of my friends who dig rock and they just couldn't go, so looks like I'm going it alone again for my second rush concert! Oh well it will rock! lol. Good for you... ...the show is going to be amazing. Brand new venue, hope to meet you there. Meeting up before hand at Lilliefields in Brooklyn.
  22. I just saw them live on Friday. "Hell or Hallelujah" sounded fantastic. Their music really is better played live in most cases. I still can't wait for the new album to come out.
