  1. I just happened to stumble upon a show from Boston on Youtube awhile back. It gives this one a good run for its money.
  2. Bacchus Plateau is my favorite "song" from CoS. Sure wish there was some live version of it.
  3. They could just cut and paste from Neil's blogs. Neil gets royalties. Geddy and Alex are creating music. The Rush Online Universe goes to war over what the band name will be. Everybody wins!!!!
  4. Well, let's just say we have different views on this. I hear this from fans of older bands all the time..."well, they're xty years old, give 'em a break". But I don't evaluate how enjoyable music is based upon how old the musician; I evaluate music based upon how enjoyable the listen. I simply cannot stand listening to Geddy at this point in his career. Those of you who aren't bothered by his current voice...good for you! I'm happy - perplexed - but happy that you're still able to enjoy Rush's great music sung in a completely different manner than for most of their career. But for many of us, that simply isn't true. And telling us what we already know (the band has aged) doesn't change how we feel or think about this. Take any rocker who sings and plays a primary instrument, and Geddy sings in tune at a far greater percentage than most anyone else. Geddy wasn't exactly an American idol candidate on many live 70s recording either ya know....
  5. totally agree, why waste our time with this when there are so many better versions before it.. Some people like it. Cool thing is, we can enjoy it, you can ignore it, and everyone is happy! What a concept! Sure, but everyone should be able to express their opinion about it, regardless of what it might be. Seems every post from nicky is bashing it. It's not as bad as some make it out to be. If you want perfection, pop in ESL. If you want to listen to an honest 2015 rendition by a band who wasn't afraid to age in front of everyone's eyes, then R40 isn't a pointless waste.

  7. Limelight and Stick It Out replaced Big Money and Subdivisions on the 2nd Leg. At the Albany show, Time and Motion was played before being dropped after a handful of performances.
  8. I think it's the best rendition since ESL. Elder statesman Geddy sounds so sagely and wise with his delivery here.
  9. If you suffer a debilitating disease on Nov. 19, at least you will have heard what is already released!
  10. Can we get David Bottrill to work on professionalizing that recording? Wow!
  11. It sounds fine; nothing too horrid. Oddly enough, I think the roughest vocals will be found on the newer material. Definitely OLV, and parts of The Anarchist.
  12. His voiced was never 100% the same, so I voted for all options. That's what you get for allowing check boxes instead of option buttons!
  13. Side note: Does Geddy say I WANNA SEE YOUR PANCREAS going into In the Mood?!
  14. It happened on September 28, 1977 in Fresno. The vocal chord monster suddenly got a hold of him during Fly by Night! :D
  15. Animate: good studio cut, well-performed on the R40 tour, dreadful in concert on previous tours Stick it Out: musically, I'm fine with it, not a fan of the Geddy Tabernacle Choir Cut to the Chase: PLAY IT LIVE ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nobody's Hero: does nothing for me, their other recent "softer" songs are much better Between Sun and Moon: became okay after seeing it live Alien Shore: some of my favorite Geddy bass work, cool tune The Speed of Love: no Double Agent: I want to like it, but..... meh Leave That Thing Alone: decent, studio cut is far inferior to live versions Cold Fire: I like it Everyday Glory: I like it
  16. Dreamline Great studio version Excellent in concert, perhaps it stayed in the setlist a bit too long before 2010 Other-worldly in a good way with the backing of the string ensemble
  17. Not in terms of histrionics, that's true. But I still maintain he was technically a better singer after he started to mellow a bit more. I agree with this. In the early days he did a lot of screaming, which fit the music they were doing and was also kind of his signature sound (along with that vibrato). As their music changed, so did his voice and his approach to singing. I don't think his 70's voice would have fit the 80's+ music. I don't know. I think this could have worked... Imagine a time.... YEAH Where at it all began BABY In the dying days of the warARARAARARARARARARRARA A weapon that would settle the SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRREEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. "Downhill" "Decayed" These are words you are using. Don't backpedal! :)
  19. You're the one saying he decayed. The rest of us are (correctly) saying he changed his approach.
  20. The two songs they've released are far from challenging from a vocal standpoint, so there was no need for tinkering. If there will be any tinkering, it will be found in the super old tunes or One Little Victory. I think this will be released warts and all, sans the majorly flubbed Alex solo from Red Barchetta.
  21. Using the ATWAS Tour as the line of demarcation, the timbre of his voice is what changed the most. Before, he had a full, screamy tone. After, his tone got thinner, but it sounded more like he's singing the notes.
  22. Yup. It's clear Geddy should have been put down after the Kings Tour.
  23. Between Sun and Moon. Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. There are some doozies on A Show of Hands. I know on Tom Sawyer, there's the white/black guitar thing. Then, on TSOR, some of the long-distances shots are obvious mis-edited.
